ita, I have a bad dust mite allergy. Here's a good list of ways to avoid dust mites (from the Mayo Clinic): [link]
I have to warn against any of the ionic filters for dust mites--they don't help--but a good HEPA filter can make all the difference. The one I have is mad expensive but filters like a mofo and allows me to be in my house without taking Claritan all the time.
Cut clutter? Are they insane?
::sigh::
Give me your wallet, a UHaul, and four hours in your apartment.
Okay. But you can't get rid of anything. I already did that.
There is this custom car company called n2a Motors (n2a = "No Two Alike") They have a car called the Seven-Eight-Nine that's an amalgamation of design cues from the '57, '58 and '59 Chevys. Cool. Also, pretty. It's built on a modern Corvette chassis.
ita, you should talk to the DH about HEPA filters. He researched them all before he bought ours, he'll be able to advise you on what to look for.

Dayum that's a pretty car.
Burrell, can you toss me his email address? I'd love to hear about his experience too.
I'm of two minds about following the low-humidity suggestion, since drying out has been posited as a factor in the migraines too.
Hrrm.
Time to finish up Dr. Who and go to sleep. Got way sidetracked re-folding clothes. But two shelves in my closet are neater now for it.
Sure ita, I'll send it in a jiff.
This is the filter system I have: [link]
Like I said. Mad expensive. I paid for mine in installments and wince every time I replace the filters (2-3 times a year), but I can't argue with the results. I also have dust mite mattress cover, pillow covers, etc. that I wash in hot water at least twice a month. I use this site: [link] for my allergy supplies (which are, btw, completely tax deductible since they are for medical necessity).
As for the low humidity, SoCal kind of takes care of that for us. My dust mite allergies are *so* much better than they were in CT.
