Zoe: Don't think it's a good spot, sir. She still has the advantage over us. Mal: Everyone always does. That's what makes us special.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Are you watering Mal to make him grow? he's really getting big!

And Sean, things still not going well? I'd offer hugs if I thought it would help.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Aww, Mal's such a big boy. What a handsome kid.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I just keep reminding myself "Emmet Till Emmet Till Emmet Till". His Mother's bravery and the circulation of those photos in Jet went a long way toward bringing about the end of regular lyncings in America.

Thank you, Trudy. Not so much for the crying at my desk part, but for the reminder that things can change, and sometimes it takes something horrid to spark it.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

They can change. And they do change. It seems so unimaginable to us that they'd stone a girl like that... which is only proof of how quickly how much HAS changed.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Afternoon. Am hungover. Had much fun last night though, and very sad I had to go home so I could get up and be here. Doesn't help that I spent the last 15 minutes fielding a complaint about another office. in another city. where I am not.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Ugh. Just read the story about the Iraqi girl who was stoned to death and they caught it on video.

Humans suck.

Indeed they do. But did you read Joss Whedon's response? [link]

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Joss's response made me cry. Also made me join Equality Now and give them money.

Librarian Warlord

The DH and I have been loaning a little money each month through kiva.org in an effort to make the world a better place. I'm not sure what his criteria are for choosing his borrowers, but I've always picked a woman.

ION, my niece came in 2nd this year at the Topanga Canyon Banjo & Fiddle Contest in her fiddle category. I'm a proud auntie.

There's also Modest Needs, though it's donation-based, not loan-based.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

yay for Mal! yay for good news stories. I spent too much time talking about the pit that has been roaming around our neighborhood for the last five days. It looks like thy finally caught it. Sadly, I think it was a fight dog that was dumped. the animal control officer thought someone should "befriend" it and trap in their backyard. I think if the used used the word lure , I might have been a little more excepting of the idea. because they couldn't get near it. But it did trap some one in their house for a day ( it decided to live on her front porch) and no one cam e and got it then. I think they finally caught it this morning.
