One of the girls from juvie hall went home since I was there last time! I'm so happy for her. She was a super sweet girl who loved Harry Potter. Yay! I book talked Ibsen and it went well. They all paid attention and someone took the book to read when we were done. It made me feel all teacherly like, which was a good feeling. I'm about to head over there again for another book talk. This time I'm doing We Have Always Lived In the Castle by Shirley Jackson.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
GC, that is wonderful news.
Isn't it? I hope she is able to stay home and not end up back in trouble. It's hard to know so little about these girls. I'm sure it's for the best that we don't, but they make me so curious. How did they get here? Do they regret what they did? Will they get out? When?

Ooooh! Great book, and excellent for discussion. I read it on my honeymoon in New Orleans while JZ and I were sitting around drinking cocktails off our bedroom balcony.
Merricat is such an excellent protogoth.
Trudy, it's good to see you back, here.
Julia and Chris think Ellie is incredibly beautiful (which she is), but Ben doesn't talk like that about babies (they're all 'cute'). Everybody loves Matilda. I know I'm forgetting more babies. I pretty much show them everyone's babies. I should never list names. Noah and Grace are foremost in my mind because they get daily mentions from the kids.
The best part about the Buffista Baby Playgroup would be the other parents would be cool.
Oh, yeah.
Like the commercial, where the mothers sit around snacking while the babies snooze in their carriers ... only with more booze and corsets.
Shirley Jackson, in many ways, was an excellent protogoth. She's certainly a gothmother.
GC's booktalking a book about a girl who kills her family to girls in juvie!
How tall is Ms Matilda? Says she who ought to Get Cracking and Mail the Box Already.

Most of her growing has been filling out rather than up. So she's still fairly wee. I don't have an actual measurement, but her sitting up in the grocery cart is still a little surprising to onlookers because she appears to be about half her actual age.
Thanks, Cindy, its good to be back.
Gloom, its hard not to know. What you DO know is that, well, when she was in prison you visited her...
(which, whether an individual is into Jesus or not, is a fine thing for a human being to do. And it was good for her spirit -- not merely to be unforgotten, but for her life to be touched by you)
