Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Huh. I just found out via email from Big Boss that one of the members of my department "will not be returning this year" and, I assume, not be coming back next year. I have no idea why. I'm freaked.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wow, this hate note to Roger Clemens is just a beautiful piece of poison pen.

That is freaky in your line of work! It's not like it's a business like the one I'm in when people leave or are asked to leavea any ol' time of the year.

I found out why. Apparently this person used inappropriate language (repeatedly) in her classroom. Although I understand this rationale to some extent, I'm a little concerned about why it was allowed to get to the point of no return before it was adressed. Makes me a tad uneasy.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

You mean that teachers would be fired without being given an opportunity to address the concerns that lead to the end of their employment?

Sorry. Bitter.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

it was allowed to get to the point of no return before it was adressed.

They never warned her she was out of line?

No, I hear you. I'm really kind of baffled. She taught mainly 6th grade, which doubtless contributed to the severity of the response...but I have to wonder why there wasn't a probationary period. All I can think is that maybe no one complained until it had gotten so bad that the admin felt that they couldn't salvage the situation with the parents. Still, really unsettling.

I don't know. It's all shrouded in confedentiality.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Brenda, again, I don't know the specifics. I do know that my department head (who I adore and trust completely) said that the "list" she saw (where this list came from I have no idea) was pretty significant.
