Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I'm getting the pig!

I saw that on the news early this morning. My first thought was of Suzi. Is she close to where it happened?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It says the driver walked away and took a cab to the hospital to get his burns treated. I take it no one else was injured?

He SURVIVED? Just now, I was coming back to ask, "I guess the driver died, right?"

My first thought was of Suzi. Is she close to where it happened?

No, she's far away. No worries.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I overslept and missed the farmers market. I do need to get some food today, though, so I'm trying to decide where to go. I think it's a nice enough day that I can walk over to Whole Foods.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I'm here Nicole. Just watching the news and the bumbling reporters who are trying to describe the area of the accident and it is painfully obvious they don't drive that area.

I rarely drive that section, but I know all the work arounds if I need to. Still WOW. So glad no one else was hurt and glad the driver has just minor injuries.

I remember when the tanker blew up in the Caldecott tunnel. I was driving home from Orinda and came through the back roads over the hill instead of taking the tunnel. We figured I would have been right before, in the middle, or right behind the accident had I gone that route. Still makes me shiver.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I thought of you when I heard about the meltage this morning, Hec. I predict this will be a mess for many of us for a long time. From what I understand the truck was on the 580 but it was the 80-880 that melted and the whole exchange is fubar. Well, not all repair I hope, but anything soon.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So glad no one else was hurt and glad the driver has just minor injuries.

Really? Considering how this is going to fuck with people for months and that it looks like the driver was speeding and lost control of his truck, I'm pretty much in the "he didn't get injured near enough" mode. Stupid fucker trucker.

Hec, that's awfully cold of you, in my opinion. That's a human being's life you're weighing against inconvienence -- a whole lot of inconvienence, but still. Human. Life.

I have opened the windows and am headed out to lunch with a friend and her kids in the park. The Sabres game is at 2 pm, and then we're off to Baltimore for the roller derby!

Oh for fuck's sake. Don't gimme a lecture about the worth of a human life.

Obviously I'm not going to sneak into his hospital room and jerk out his lines.

Obviously I'm not eager to see anybody in a burn ward.

If I don't have a mindless bromide handy for the trucker it's entirely because he was an idiot.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Have fun, Sparky! I went out to my daughter's championship bout last night. They lost 76-75, bummer. Did great, though, considering they were fielding about half the normal number of players so they had a lot of gaps to fill in and then one girl broke her ankle in the middle of the second period. It all came down to the last jam and they duked it out for two minutes without a lead jammer. Electifying.
