Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Exciting picture of freeway all collapsed
We have determined that it is NOT the part of the freeway I travel, but rather on the side going to JZ's Dad's house.
Which sucks and the whole traffic pattern will be fucked but won't be quite as disastrous for me.

Wow. It's good that it happened at 3 am, when there weren't a lot of people on the road.
511.org says, "The westbound I-80 to southbound I-880 connector ramp remains closed until further notice." I'm not sure if that affects the 580 side too because they diverge at a fork. It doesn't look like it actually affects my route, but it will fuck up the traffic, yeah.
Wait, the other picture says "A tanker carrying gasoline exploded on the Interstate 580 interchange to Interstate 80," which is more what you said and makes more sense with the reference to the "Macarthur Maze." I think there's a typo on 511.org. That IS my usual route to San Francisco from home. Guess I'll have to take a detour.
Well, I was going to work this morning to use the fitness center. I guess I'll get to see how bad it is.
(Wait, what am I saying? Waffles!)
Plus he did the laundry.
::wibble::
Ew, the freeway situation sounds horrible. It says the driver walked away and took a cab to the hospital to get his burns treated. I take it no one else was injured?
I'm just happy to hear the driver got away with only second degree burns. The last time I heard of a tanker roll-over the driver didn't make it far enough away from the tanker and he died. I'm always amazed at the fact there are people willing to drive those things. While accidents aren't frequent, they are much more likely to be fatal.
Fay, what David said. You're a knockout. Add the feather if you want embellishment, but it will not be the most beautiful thing about you. That is you, your looks, your wit, your compassion, your joy. Bless.
Well, I'm out of coffee. I may have to get dressed so I can go to the store and get more. Or, I may just stay here and read the innernets. Decisions, decisions.
The tanker, which was full of vehicle-ready gasoline, seems to have disappeared. One Caltrans worker at the scene held up his thumb and forefinger an inch apart to describe how big the tanker is now.
I saw that on the news early this morning. My first thought was of Suzi. Is she close to where it happened?

He SURVIVED? Just now, I was coming back to ask, "I guess the driver died, right?"
My first thought was of Suzi. Is she close to where it happened?
No, she's far away. No worries.
I overslept and missed the farmers market. I do need to get some food today, though, so I'm trying to decide where to go. I think it's a nice enough day that I can walk over to Whole Foods.
I'm here Nicole. Just watching the news and the bumbling reporters who are trying to describe the area of the accident and it is painfully obvious they don't drive that area.
I rarely drive that section, but I know all the work arounds if I need to. Still WOW. So glad no one else was hurt and glad the driver has just minor injuries.
I remember when the tanker blew up in the Caldecott tunnel. I was driving home from Orinda and came through the back roads over the hill instead of taking the tunnel. We figured I would have been right before, in the middle, or right behind the accident had I gone that route. Still makes me shiver.
