Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Compassionately intolerant

Oh Jilli, what streeeessss. Peaceful vibes headed your way.

I think that it is the definition of a knee-jerk reaction. No disciplinary action? No review? Just fired? It sounds more like a corporate board than a school.

This happened to my landlord's sister...a teacher in FL. A student asked her to explain something he had heard about the recent Columbine shootings. She did so, unfortunately including a visual demonstration. Another student told his parents. Next day, no job. No warning. No process. Just out.

It's alarming how knee jerky this culture is. I get the argument about appropriateness, but tsunami reactions to relatively innocuous errors just strikes me as hypocritical and ingenuine. It isn't about respect for the lost, it's about fronting moral values that aren't consistently applied.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

How about a spork that injects spiked coffee?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

or stare at picspam in shrift's journal.
That was a whole lot of pretty. Guh.

I hope the meeting goes well Thursday. So stressful. And on top of everything else, not what you need.

Are they gonna hire more people for your team?

Ha! We don't know! We have to prove that we need more people to get our Pri 1 work done.

Your kinda-sorta stalker is a fellow employee?

Yes. One of the shuttle drivers thinks I'm Very Neat, and will stop in the middle of the road to talk to me if there isn't anyone on his bus. Apparently my brain shuts off when I am startled, because when he asked me for my work alias, I blurted it out. (I am STILL beating myself up about that.) So he's now sent me two different emails asking all about me, and signed them "Your new friend".

I'm positive he's harmless. Not very bright, and with no social skills AT ALL, but harmless. But in his latest email he told me he's given his notice here at work, because he's going to go work for Metro. Which means I shouldn't have to deal with him for much longer.

{{Jilli}} Just put the stalkerish email in a folder and save it. You do not have to look at it until your meeting on Thursday, and you do not have to answer it, ever, if you don't want to.

And you are Very Neat, you know. eta: Not that I'm saying the stalkerish fellow was right to stalkerish you.

I thought I'd reached the end of the internets with over 2 and a half hours to go, but then! Ah Sting fandom wank! Yay! The day, she is saved.

"terrorfied" is my new favorite word.

What is even happening?

I think this is fucking ridiculous:
Professor Fired After Mock Student Shootings
I don't see AT ALL how what he did would warrant being fired. Hell, it seems like his own students support him.

I'm just watching the video the prof made about his termination, on YouTube. I've only gotten through the first segment, but I thought you might want the links.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I was feeling kind of ... I don't know, bothered, I guess, about letting all of my baby gear go for nothing.

Until the single, pregnant teenager walked into my garage. Basically no family support and very little money. I sent her away with a bin of clothes, another of blankets and Em's bedding set, the stroller and car seat, an extra car base, a bouncy chair and the swing. I feel a little better about it now.
