Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Thrive to spite them

A guy just walked up. "I'm here to apply for the job opening." Only all he knows is it's an opening in this building. He has no contact information, no name, just a vague description of the job.

"There wasn't any contact information in the ad?" Nooo

"Not a company name?" Nooooo "An address to send the resume, a phone number, a contact person." Nooooo. Nothing just a job description and the location.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I think this is fucking ridiculous:

Professor Fired After Mock Student Shootings

I don't see AT ALL how what he did would warrant being fired. Hell, it seems like his own students support him.

Mostly lurking...

I really do not appreciate your being so Monday-like.

Poor you! My mom was saying the same thing a bit ago. Bad Tuesday! No biscuit.

I think this is fucking ridiculous:

I don't know a ton about this, but it happened here in Boston (I didn't click the link, but it's been all over the news here, so I'm assuming it's the same one). I don't think it's so ridiculous. There are just some things that are inappropriate...especially so soon after such a tragedy.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I think that it is the definition of a knee-jerk reaction. No disciplinary action? No review? Just fired? It sounds more like a corporate board than a school.

The professor is an adjunct, so it's a different set of rules and standards.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did you ask the guy where/how he heard about the job?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

flees into thread, hides in corner.

I have skipped and skimmed like a big skippy skimmy thing, therefore I will just give out ~ma and hugs to everyone.

Work is Not Good. Our team keeps shrinking (people leaving, people not returning from medical leave), my boss is running around in a blind panic, our next deadine is looming, I got more email from my kinda-sorta stalker, and my meeting to discuss my kinda-sorta stalker with HR isn't until Thursday.

My reaction to all of this is to freak out. I do not want to Deal With Things, and would rather window-shop for pretty things or stare at picspam in shrift's journal.

Are they gonna hire more people for your team?

Your kinda-sorta stalker is a fellow employee?

Compassionately intolerant

Oh Jilli, what streeeessss. Peaceful vibes headed your way.

I think that it is the definition of a knee-jerk reaction. No disciplinary action? No review? Just fired? It sounds more like a corporate board than a school.

This happened to my landlord's sister...a teacher in FL. A student asked her to explain something he had heard about the recent Columbine shootings. She did so, unfortunately including a visual demonstration. Another student told his parents. Next day, no job. No warning. No process. Just out.

It's alarming how knee jerky this culture is. I get the argument about appropriateness, but tsunami reactions to relatively innocuous errors just strikes me as hypocritical and ingenuine. It isn't about respect for the lost, it's about fronting moral values that aren't consistently applied.
