I always think that long hair is more me, until I actually start growing it out. Then, I hate it. Too much to keep up. Specially with A) dealing with Em in the mornings and B) LA summer.
Then I get the sort cut and wonder, WTF was I thinking? Long hair? EFF THAT.

I do that about twice a year. (Current state of hair: long enough to not make my triple chin so obvious. Also long enough to be curly again, woot. Hec, shut it.)

Oooh -- plus, getting a cut is instant gratification -- people say "You got your hair cut! Pretty!" People never do that when you grow your hair, unless they haven't seen you for months and the last time they saw you your hair was super-short. That's not the same as enthusiasm upon finding that some lovely lass has decided to grow her hair. You're very gallant with the compliments for the current state of things, but when a Hair Decision has to be made, I don't think I've ever heard you express happiness over the choice for more hair rather than less.
