Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Here's the one about the Chaplain. I'm reading about Bad Bob now.

sj, they're religious comics meant for use converting people. Here's an alphabetical list of their current tracts. I'd say pick a few and read. They're very amusing. Or possibly scary.

All the Negotiation~ma you can handle heading your way, Kristin. Sounds like a tough choice. I hope everything goes well for you.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I used to think that Chick tracts were fun, but I now see them as racist hate literature.

Thanks, Sean. I marked your post and I'll take at a look at the link when I'm on my computer.

I now see them as racist hate literature.

Some of them can be pretty nasty. The one about the Chaplain has some pretty racist characatures of (presumably) Afghanis. But their Catholic and Halloween hate has always kept them in the realm of the ridiculous for me.

Actually, it's funny you mention that. The banner on the main page of the site is deliberately "diverse," but if you look close, they're some of the whitest black, hispanic and asian people you'll ever see.

Ok, my favorite line in the chaplain one? "you'll have a body like His"

I haven't seen any that are overtly racist, though the chaplain one has the scary terrorist stereotype, but then I see that on the editorial pages of my local paper.

I've occasionally seen ones that had pretty racist characatures of Jews and Catholics (Paddy McDrunkassboyfondler type stuff).
