I now see them as racist hate literature.
Some of them can be pretty nasty. The one about the Chaplain has some pretty racist characatures of (presumably) Afghanis. But their Catholic and Halloween hate has always kept them in the realm of the ridiculous for me.
Actually, it's funny you mention that. The banner on the main page of the site is deliberately "diverse," but if you look close, they're some of the whitest black, hispanic and asian people you'll ever see.
Ok, my favorite line in the chaplain one? "you'll have a body like His"
I haven't seen any that are overtly racist, though the chaplain one has the scary terrorist stereotype, but then I see that on the editorial pages of my local paper.
I've occasionally seen ones that had pretty racist characatures of Jews and Catholics (Paddy McDrunkassboyfondler type stuff).
Ah.
Gloomcookie! My best friend sent me this because she thinks she needs it. I'm pretty sure you do too! [link]
Are people having trouble with gmail?
Ok. Good to know it's not just me. Or something.
I used to think that Chick tracts were fun, but I now see them as racist hate literature.
They're fun racist hate literature!
(Seriously, though, I'm with you. On the one hand, I can read them and shake my head and laugh at how over the top CRAXY they are, and then I remember that there are people out there taking them seriously and I get very, very sad and frightened.)
Oh, DJ, I've been coveting that HK guitar forever. The Sanrio in my mall has it on display along with the Bad Badtz bass. I also need this crock pot!!!! [link]
ACK. Big Boss wasn't in her office. I left her a note, but no response. Guess I'll be tackling this question tomorrow. Thanks for the ~ma!
