Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

This has been one of the best birthdays ever. Things went wrong here and there, but I just didn't care, and I'm not really sure why, but I don't really care about that either.

All day, I had wonderful birthday wishes here and from other friends. I rushed to a meeting between work and my birthday dinner, and everyone sang happy birthday, which was just the beginning of the blushes. At the birthday dinner, way more people came than I had expected (well, they RSVPed so I could make reservations, but way more people RSVPed). The food was fantabulous and I tried a new and interesting drink, which I probably won't ever get again but it was really pretty. Some of the cards were humorous and some not, but all were really thoughtful and clearly gotten with me in mind. I figure I was at the restaurant about 3.5 hours, talking and laughing and soaking up the company. I'm so happy. I think that the last birthday that was this good was probably when I turned 11 or 12.

I think I must have bogarted all the ~ma in the world, and I hereby send it out to all those in need, together with liberal doses of glitter and chocolate!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I am hella late now but many, many, many happy birthdays, libkitty!

I loved meeting you and now think you need to come back to Portland post hasty, pudding-like.

Late. Bed. Yes.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Libkitty, I'm glad you had such a nice birthday.

Hugs and -ma to all the Bitches who need them.

I'm insomnia girl tonight. I was keeping TCG awake with my tossing and turning, so now I'm up.

Hope you can get some sleep, sj. Or that the other coast wakes up soon to play with you.

Thanks, Cass. I think I'm going to count the sleep I had as sufficient. I hope you sleep well.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I am at school on the first day of spring break, doing Saturday detention. I have two students, and all of Season 7 of Buffy. AND I get paid about $150 for it.

Even though I had to wake up early on a Saturday, it could be worse.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

But behind closed doors, I know I'll never hear the end of it if I don't go.

P-C, you're never going to hear the end of anything. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Since they're always going to be ragging at you for something, you might as well do what you want. Just buy your cousin a present. Or take her out to dinner by herself and talk about the rest of the family. She's probably as frustrated as you are. For one, I suspect that at 16 she'd rather spend her birthday with her friends.

It's lovely to hear about your birthday, libkitty.

Once lice aren't attached to people, they starve to death pretty quickly.

The news keeps saying "Oh, my god. Don't get in your car!" The Final Four is here tonight, and they expect a brazillion crazed basketball fans.

HMOG, I am totally not feeling this annotated bibliography work today.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Just buy your cousin a present. Or take her out to dinner by herself and talk about the rest of the family.

This. Tell your aunt that rather than be rushed and put in a token appearance, you'd like to treat your cousin to a really special dinner(emphasize just the two of you, so you don't wind up treating everyone to dinner). Insert phrases about importance of family, special birthday, yadda yadda yadda.

I agree that there's a good chance your cousin is probably just as frustrated and would love to find an ally within the family.

Also? Yes, for reals.
