GC, if you're around, there's a quote by Roy Tennant about how librarians are the only people who like to search, everyone else likes to find -- he's part of the California Digital Library at Berkeley and is always good for pithy quotes. You might check out the UC bibliographic task force report that they put out and have been working with since Dec 2005. It deals a lot with what users want, and how librarians could give them that without sacrificing our committment to cataloging (if you read between the lines, too). Wow. I know some people misunderstand DST, but this article [link] makes my brain ache.
DST increases the amount of daytime hours, making the summer days longer than the winter days.
I'm tempted to wrote to the writer or her editor, "Um, no. No it doesn't. That happens as part of the orbit of the Earth and its tilted axis. DST essentially shifts the clock to compensate for the increased hours, moving an hour of the morning to the evening to let us use it more efficiently."
But I bet after two days he/she's been told that a few times.

Better, thank you! The rash continues to be annoying (no getting around that) but I'm less achy and itchy. I composed a letter to my doctor last night, which I may send tomorrow. I'm really hoping the rash doesn't last long. It will suck to travel with it.
Why do I love the Spring Forward so much but hate the Fall Back?
We went to a party for TCG's step-grandmother last night, and I really wish I had brought my camera. I want a picture of TCG with a two year old blonde girl on one side of him and a three year old blonde girl on the other side of him, each giving him orders about exactly how he should draw a picture that they put in front of him. It was the cutest thing ever.
You aren't supposed to drive more than 50 miles on a donut, I think.
Don't drive faster than 50mph is what I was told by AAA -- the guy didn't say anything about distance. (In fact, he seemed to think it was fine for me to drive all the way from Syracuse to NYC on a donut as long as I did it reeeeeeally slooooooooooowly. We asked him to recommend a motel near a tire shop instead.)
We had some neighbors that kept a donut on their car for about four months. I think we've had to use one for about three days once. But the speed recommendation is under 50 mph.
It's going to be in the 50's and sunny today and tomorrow. 66 degrees by Tuesday!
