I hope you don't think that I just come over for the spells and everything. I mean, I really like just talking and hanging out with you and stuff.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

Emily, I hope it gets better and that Kristin's good news helps that happen.

I remember Aimee and Joe and Sean and ND around Anne's dining room table in Baltimore for the DC F2F, all four of them tapping away on laptops. And Lee's living room, with Nicole, Ellen, Lee and me all posting reviews of Serenity and describing Ozzie's latest nap in the bowl. Or Deb's front yard, with KateFate and Beth's DH and Brenda and I, and probably others I'm forgetting, checking in on the board. In between a baseball game and a museum trip. In a drizzle. Not to mention the various hospitality suites. It's so hilarious that we cross time and space to be in the same room together, and then break out the hardware to talk to each other--although it's as much to try and bring everybody else on the board along, too.

Wherever two or more are gathered, with laptop or text thingy...

At first I was laughing about this, but then I thought about my few online group meetings with internet-made friends. My first ever was with Bronzers, and it was a big group of us at a restaurant. My husband came with me, and I couldn't concentrate on what anyone was saying. I missed the ability to be able to scroll back and re-read, before responding. Most of my subsequent Bronzer gatherings involved smaller groups, and it wasn't as disconcerting, but I still missed the ability to scroll back. I've felt the same way, the couple of times I've met with Buffistas.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

When Lee and I were in Seattle there was only one laptop and we had to trade it back and forth to snark on each other. Soooo time consuming. Much better when you can snark simultaneously. Synchronized.

There is a picture somewhere of me, Lee, and Steph all on our laptops at the same time. I think we were probably all posting to the board, too.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

OMG, am I going to Ireland next month? We got a heartbreaking letter from Tom's neice and there's a fare sale. OMG. We shouldn't do this. But how can you explain that to an 11 year old girl?

Our wings are not tired.

Gone for the weekend. Quick ketchup.

Billytea and the WallyBiyi are so heartwarming. I don’t know if my family understood how pleased I was to see the update. You deserve each other and this lifetime of happiness.

{{S&S}} Quick fix vibes sent your way. Also, lack of pain vibes. How awful to not be able to get the appropriate meds.

I don’t even know what I can possibly say about Teppy’s newletter. Speechless. Um, maybe checking out some of Tom Scola’s links and moving would lead to finding a more literate group where your editing skills would be appreciated?

Hec, computers suck. The hardware failures, and the software failures, and the stupid time change crap that doesn’t work right, and operating systems that are 834,785 updates away from being functional. Grrrrr.

Thieves also suck. It is beyond my understanding how people can take cash from cards mailed. These types of incidents may not be life changing harms, but it brings out my desire to be a hermit and avoid all the screwed up people out there. Yes, it needs to be reported because it didn’t happen to just one person.

I'm feeling a lot of not-good-enough-ness.

Emily, you are so much more than this. I know that this job has drained your spirit and I am so sorry. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger? After you have moved into the right position I know I will read a post from you that says, “I fucking rock at this job!” Because you will in the right place.

Nora! Go to Ireland. Say hi to my people!

In Laura news, my sister Mona from Otter Lake is visiting. She arrives about noon today on my coast. Tonight I have volleyball and baseball. Tomorrow orthodontist for both boys. Thursday MIL has surgery. Friday Mona flies out. I wish I could say any other week was less hectic. Oh well, she is likely to be on the beach a bunch.

Mostly lurking...

Happy Birthday, Mal! WOW! Time flies!

I just helped one of my neighbors get her groceries home. I'd never met her before, but she was struggling, so I ran up to catch up with her and offered to help her (I was worried with all the snow and stuff). She looked at me and said, "You're the girl with the little dog! We love that dog! And you clean up after him. We like that." It was so cute. She was such a sweetie.
