Thanks guys. We finally did the domestic partnership thing because we found out that if one of you becomes seriously ill, the partner can get time off of work to care for you under the law. Otherwise we didn't see the value and we both have paranoia issues with the current administration. V for Vendetta anyone?

yeah, you can't use FMLA for a roommate, which is what the law considers you. Also, if there is said illness (god forbid) and the DP can make medical decisions.

Congrats, GC. Domestic partnership is a big step. It's all the paperwork of marriage, and all the commitment of marriage, so it really should be celebrated like a marriage. By which I mean cake and champagne. And I suppose porn.
