I've seen people here talking about 1602 here, and you've probably explained what it is, but I'm a skipper so I probably missed it.

Would someone be able to give me a quick summary of what it is?

1602 is Neil Gaiman's reimagining of the Marvel Universe in 1602 Elizabethian England. The X-Men are condemned as witches, Captain America is a Native American and Doctor Strange reimagined as John Dee as examples.

Thanks CaBil... I may have to check that out.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Could someone grab me a copy of 1602 #2? I don't know where the comic book store is in Lancaster, nor how to get there, and I'm afraid it'll be sold out by the time I figure it out. I'll pay you back, and shipping, of course.

Holli, when are you going to back in the DC area?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I can try and grab one for you, Holli. I'll let you know if I succeed later tonight.

I can't even.

I picked up 1602 #1 and 2 today at lunch on all y'alls recommendation. I'll read it tonight and let you know.

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

Rec for Holli: Midtown Comics does mail-order. And they discount online orders -- not a hell of a lot, but probably enough to make up for the cost of shipping.

Along with 1602, the sixth (and I believe last) issue of the second series of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen came out today.
