I love Joss. Like, I'm sure his self-aware wackiness grates on some people, but I love it.
Claremont and Byrne’s ‘Days of Future Past’ is generally regarded as the greatest X-Men story ever told.
I thought that was the Dark Phoenix Saga.
There is, shock of shocks, contention on that point. I like Days of Future Past better, because dystopia works better for me.
If the Dark Phoenix arc includes the earlier Hellfire Club storyline and Kitty Pryde's introduction, I'd have to go with that. Though #108 may be my favorite single issue.
Did we know about these?
Ten comic book heroes will be saluted on the "DC Comics Super Heroes" stamps next summer. Half of the pane of 20 will be portraits of the characters; the other half will show individual comic book covers devoted to their exploits. The characters include Aquaman, Batman, The Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Plastic Man, Supergirl, Superman and Wonder Woman.
Plastic Man's an interesting choice, given that he wasn't originally DC.
Snerk.
I picked up the Illyria one-shot yesterday and it's an interesting little story set during season 5. Nothing ground-breaking, but something I could have seen them touching on if there had been a Season 6.
Spike vs. Dracula #3 was alright. Might have been more (or possibly less) entertaining if I understood German. Nice little tie-in to "Why We Fight" and there's a fun little shout-out to Oz.
Ultimate Spider-man continues to be my favorite pull, even though this issue wasn't particularly great. The previous Deadpool arc was a lot of fun, though.
Ultimate X-Men is starting to gain my interest again, though they've changed artists yet again to little improvement and the coloring looks rather muddy. Colossus should be gleaming metal, not a grayish mush. It's kind of sad I find the X-Men more entertaining (and better drawn)when they're appearing in Ultimate Spider-man than in their own title.
