Cain and Abel aren't supposed to be the Biblical Cain and Abel, are they? Because...I don't remember gargoyles in the Bible. They're just dudes who live in the Dreamworld?
Nope, they're that Cain and Abel. They just somehow ended up in the Dreamworld, gargoyles and all. They're also a callback to a much earlier comic that used them, IIRC (but I quite possibly don't), as hosts for a series of grim little stories. People with better memories than me can clarify all the details of their comic/graphic/serial history.

Yep. DC's HOUSE OF MYSTERY, I think, but definitely one of the horror anthology books. I can't remember if they each had their own book, or if they co-hosted one (there was also a book or books that had 3 witches as hosts, I'm guessing as an homage to Macbeth).

EC's Haunt of Fear, I believe.
t edit
never mind -- that was just one witch. [link]

I thought EC had just the one very old witch and I could have sworn DC had three (two old and one young, which is sometimes how the witches in Macbeth are cast).
Or did I misunderstand what you were saying?
See my edit above, Frank.
I just discovered that Adidas has a store near Harvard Square. Hmmm....
Cain was the host/narrator for House of Mystery and Abel for House of Secrets.
I finished
Preludes and Nocturnes.
Good introduction. John Dee is a frickin' crazy psycho monster. I was sad when he killed Rosemary; she was a sweet, naive woman. And "24 Hours" was very freaky.
Death is hot.
Death is hot.
Plus, she was based on an actual waitress.

And smart, and kind, and funny, and a goth girl archetype.
