Quote from Mark Waid on the tenor of the universe post-Crisis:
The good new is, and I guarantee you this, when we’re on the other side of the CRISIS, those days [of dark super-heroes] are GONE. Just gone. We’re sick to death of heroes who are not heroes, we’re sick to death of darkness. Not that there’s no room, not that Batman should act like Adam West, but that won’t be the overall feeling. After all this stuff, after everything shakes down, we’re done with heroes being dicks. No more we screwed each other and now we must pay the consequences. No, we’re super-heroes and that’s what we do. Batman’s broken. Through no ONE person’s fault, but he’s a dick now. And we’ve been told we can fix that.
Hmm. I hope they don't fix it
too
much.
So they
don't actually WANT fangirls.
Always kinda suspected as much.
Well, truth be told, I'd prefer it if
Batman were somewhat less of a dick. Not, like, "Let's get those evildoers, chum!", but less of an I-will-destroy-the-psyches-of-everyone-who-crosses-
my-path-but-especially-my-"team"-when-I'm-actually acknowledging-that-I-have-a-team.
I kinda like the
dickishness.
Now, there are times where I think it bleeds into stupidity
(like War Games),
but the whole
destroying-the-souls-of-all-he-touches
has a certain charm.
Not a very sustainable one, I admit.
I mean, honestly, I just want Batman to
hug Dick, because I'm actually tired of Dick's bottomless cavern of need for Batman's
approval.
And my bias is that I love how Cass
thinks (nay, knows) this is an upgrade from her previous paternal figure, and probably figures everyone elses' diamond shoes are too tight.
No, he read it in some interview with a VP at DC.
Psycho Pirate brings forth an infinite number of previously unseen characters from the Pre-Crisis multiverse that can be made into collectible action figures
!
I don't even know what the other contenders
are
for greatest comics page ever.
Maybe the famous Spider-Man where he's trapped under all the junk and finally gets free. Or Ben Grimm getting turned back into the Thing by Reed against his will to fight Dr. Doom. Of course, that's just superhero comics.
What are the famous pages?
My favorite comic book page ever is from "The Death of Speedy" in L&R.

Good choice! Anybody else got a favorite page?
