Depends on how long-standing you mean. In the old days there were Supergirl, and Dev-Em, and the whole bottle city of Kandor.
Discussion of Buffy and Angel comics, books, and more. Please don't get into spoilery details in the first week of release.

Not to mention a veritable ark of silly-ass super-animals.
Mock not Beppo the Super-simian!
Only two were actually from Krypton, though.
I think after the first one, it's hard to care where they come from.

Post-Crisis. 20 years is long-standing.
As it is, I have a hard time imagining a Christine Spar Grendel movie without a Hunter Rose Grendel movie to set it up.
I'd have done it as some sort of prologue - either news report montage, or a mini-movie of some kind. Wouldn't do it total justice, but I just loved the Christine Spar story so much that's the movie I wanted.

That could have worked. There's only just enough Hunter Rose (from the Devil by the Deed story, anyway) to make a tight, short movie. Shorten it even more to a prologue, and it does work to set it up.
Though even if it was done as two movies, I think Tojiro is going to seem like he came out of nowhere. Argent's going to be weird enough for people as it is.

I still have money riding on "Kara Zor-El" turning out not to be Superman's cousin, but rather his daughter by Amazing Grace.
So then, how does that affect (or, I should say, *does* it?) the whole issue of Kara and Power Girl being unmixy things?
