Saffron: You won't tell anyone about me breaking down? Mal: I won't. Saffron: Then I won't tell anyone how easily I got your gun out of your holster. Mal: I'll take that as a kindness.

Art Crawl!!!

DX, you're right -- it's been a while. What's up with that?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

As if the boy needed any more marks in the plus column....

Boy says no Grendel, but he does have Mage. Yep, caught me a geek.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

DX, you're right -- it's been a while. What's up with that?

Bendis, like Marmite, is spread thinly on toast?

I suspect he's been so busy with House of M and New Avengers that he's been slacking his ass off on Powers. It's as bad as Planetary.

Hmm. If I revise my top 5, whatever I slide off may be replaced by Planetary. Unless it was already on there. I'm fickle. Don't make me choose.

This week, I'm about 3/4 of the way through my pulls, and while it was a thin week for me, OMG, so good.

If you're reading, and haven't read them yet, read BoP before reading Batgirl.

BoP Is there anything Gail doesn't do well? She showcased her talents quite nicely, mixing action, drama, and comedy in a way that makes me want to marry her. Dear Gail, I know there's a line, but I come with Cute Baby Attachment. I think that was the best fight scene I've read in a long time, and damn, it was Johns-level continuity porn. I'm a little worried about the direction they're heading with Babs and the toe movement, but that's my only quibble.

Batgirl Manages to follow up BoP pretty nicely, while maintaining the flow of the previous parts to the storyline. The writing's crisp, and hit every emotional note just so. Gabrych's getting better all the time, and it shows when he's writing something that relies heavily on emotion over action. His early work occasionally drifted into Noxin level melodrama, but there's not really much sign of it in here. Excellent conversations with Babs and Cass, and I love the continued threads of Shiva and Canary.

'Tec Another Gabrych installment in War Crimes. Not much to comment on, except that the Cluemaster reveal was well done.

Lex Luthor: Man of Steel And so it concludes. I thought it was an interesting take on a Lex Luthor, but I think I was mainly in it for the art, which is just incredible. Lots of naked Lex in this one. I'm thinking they should make a movie of it and cast the Smallville crew.

Manhunter: More people need to buy this book. Strong female characters, lots and lots of moral ambiguity, and strong writing. No spoilers, thus no white font.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

TPBs Devil's Legacy

Loved this, and I'll forever be upset that a movie wasn't made of this while Sigourney Weaver was the right age.

BoP: I am also worried about the whole toe moving thing. I suppose that they could be raising her hopes only to have them cruelly dashed ?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

DC seems to be turning its back on some long-standing tenets, such as Kal-El being the sole survivor of Krypton, and the whole Jason Todd thing, so who knows how it could go?

Oooh. Interesting casting, Frank. But I think there will be some actress to come along after a while who could play Christine Spar. As it is, I have a hard time imagining a Christine Spar Grendel movie without a Hunter Rose Grendel movie to set it up.

I think an Eppy Thatcher Grendel movie, while enjoyable to me, would be just too frelling messed up for general consumption.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Depends on how long-standing you mean. In the old days there were Supergirl, and Dev-Em, and the whole bottle city of Kandor.

Not to mention a veritable ark of silly-ass super-animals.
