I actually like milk in my non-exotic black teas.
And sugar.
So there.
(I appreciate the taste of really nice tea, but there's a comfort thing going on with sweet, milky tea that I can't shake.)

Oh, there is. In fact, I don't put in milk and sugar when I need a tea-hug. I go straight to sweetened condensed milk.
But I'd never serve it, if it wasn't requested.
I'm sipping microwave-brewed decaf Earl Grey with lemon and sugar, AIFG!

So...you just nuke the water and then put the tea bag in right? You don't microwave with the bag in it do you?

If in need of comfort tea, I'll use canned milk and about two-three scoops of sugar. (Assuming I have canned milk on hand, which used to be a given, but isn't so much these days.) Similar sort of thing. It's how my mother's family takes their tea, and thus the tea of my childhood. (Dad, as he does with all beverages save gin, takes his plain.)

Of course I do. It brews faster that way. Plus the string keeps the water from superheating, so it doesn't explode all over the place.

How does he take his gin? With vermouth?

Yep. And occasionally tonic.
