Discussion of Buffy and Angel comics, books, and more. Please don't get into spoilery details in the first week of release.
Daredevil
was good stuff. The use of flashbacks was a little better and easier to follow this time. Is
Bont
canon or a new character?
Powers
was great. Did anyone else get the feeling
the colorful superheroes staged the attack to get back in the public's good grace
?
Does anyone know when Astonishing X-Men #7 will be available? This is the first title I've collected in years and I don't have monthly want lists or a regular dealer now.
Dude -- this week's Batman and Batgirl were every bit as good as last week's Robin sucked. Actually, considering that it was pretty much
all exposition, all the time,
Batman was far better than it had any right to be.
And Batgirl was way better than it was during War Games. New writer, isn't it?
Steph, I haven't been tracking writers, but I loved almost all the Batgirl writing, and then War Games happened, and I wondered if it suffered from plotting by committee, or because she was running all over titles.
This week made me happy again.
For reasons completely beyond me, I have failed
again
to buy TT #18.
ita, Batgirl made me think of you. And, while I loves me some Timmay, I'm really not inclined to
'ship him with everyone who walks along,
and yet....I thought there was a
vibe between him and Cass. It was vibey.
Batman had a great scene between Onyx and Batman. You should read it.

"
You did not just say 'gangsta.'
"
Steph, I was wondering if I was seeing that too. In my heart, I've
shipped her with Kon,
but I really need to get over that. I made strides today.
I'll have to have a look at Batman when I
finally
get TT. Because I will.

It's so obviously just a
H/C thang, on both sides,
but this issue was written so well, that I'd like to see it play out.
This issue of Batman has a serious glitch -- the cover has Winick/Mahnke/Nguyen, but the inside "editorial box" on pg. 4 has Gabrych/Lee/Horton. I'd like to know which team was behind this issue, because they kicked ass, particularly, like I said, because it was
all exposition, all the time, with a side of exposition and exposition sauce on top,
and yet it really worked for me.
Oh! My favorite line from Batgirl, the one I think I might have to make an LJ icon out of: "Yes, well, Batgirl prefers to watch."
Heh. Best. Line. EVAH.
Did anyone else buy Green Lantern Rebirth today? Looked interesting to me, I like the disjointed "Call of Cthulhu" style approach of the various scenes. But I had to ask
what is Batman's malfunction? I get that he bore a grudge over Hal's breakdown, but theorizing that he bought the farm in Final Night as part of some master plan to become the Spectre is paranoid thinking on a level that makes most of his villains in Arkham look rational by comparison. And it's not as if the Spectre didn't have sinister episodes back when Corrigan was the ghost empowered by it... for example, you'd think he might have noticed it going ballistic and flash frying Markovia a few years ago
