Which is almost as funny a take on the FF as Dr. Impossible's clan in the Venture Bros. episode "Ice Station Impossible". So wrong.

Yep. I totally got a FF vibe off them (didn't think of Mr. Incredible as the Thing, though I guess that works well enough), and I was very happy to see Jack-Jack pull a Human Torch. But I had no idea Sue could do force fields too, so Violet's power seemed a little arbitrary. Now? So much sense! Awesome.
Well, the Human Torch flighty nature seems to map onto Dash, while his actual powers seem to map onto Jack-Jack, while the Thing's appearance maps onto Jack-Jack while his strength goes to Mr. Incredible.
Reed's ability to turn a toaster into a gateway to the negative zone, his giant squishy brain ability, seems to have missed this particular clan...
What I particularly liked was that the foe at the end of the movie, mapped very well with Mole-man, the foe from the very first appearance of the FF.
In the end though, they aren't the FF. And a lot of their powers are pretty standard in superhero worlds. I saw that The Incredible's abilities were more closely tied to their personalities.

That's awesome.
And what do you know, the latest EW has a First Look at Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom. He looks like a metal dude in a dark green hood. Which, well, is what he looks like, right?
Well, invisibility plus force field is pretty unique, but otherwise, yeah.

Are there are any other superhero families like the FF? I mean, I know there are lots of superheroes who are related, but I can't think of ones who actually fight as a family.
And a lot of their powers are pretty standard in superhero worlds.
Yeah, definitely.
I saw that The Incredible's abilities were more closely tied to their personalities.
That's interesting.

Or maybe their personalities developed out of their abilities.

That could work both ways. For Dash he certainly seemed a reflection of his power. But he's also a little kid. Violet's power looked more like a reflection of her introverted self. I don't think she realized she was invisible when the cute boy at school looked at her early on in the movie. It seemed like that was an unconscious reaction.
