The funniest response to this I've seen (and I wish I could remember whose LJ I saw this on) was something along the lines of: "rassa frassin' Adam Walsh, gets to meet the Outsiders... OH WAIT. They're NOT REAL."

Geoff Johns generally writes really strong character-driven stories and has great respect for the Golden Age comic book characters. He managed to largely redeem a lot of the Zero Hour crapfest for me. Though I think returning to that story again and again to pick at the scabs is actually perhaps the greatest weakness of his writing. Has a tendency to lose track of subplots he's left hanging, though.
I know Morrison is a favorite of a lot of the in crowd, but I think his writing long ago degenerated into pointless self-referential wanking and surrealism for its own sake. (The latter works much better on a canvas or celluloid than in the written word, IMHO)

Question -- which superheroes/villains among the more prominent Marvel/DC/independents are fully qualified medical doctors? My short list is Dr. Don Blake (Thor's alter-ego), Dr. Jean Grey (Marvel movie-verse) and um....

Dr. Strange was a top-flight surgeon before his origin story car accident that gave him a hand tremor.
Doc Samson is a psychiatrist, but I seem to recall there may be an M.D. in his qualifications as well. Along with the training to build giant gamma-ray transfer machines. (Though in comics you can apparently get that by takinga correspondence course...)
Both versions of Doctor Midnight have been medical doctors.

I think the original Dr. Fate had a doctorate in Archaeology. So, apologies to Ross Geller, but not a real doctor.

Both of Marvel's best-known Hanks, McCoy and Pym, are docs. Pym's primary focus is in Mad Science, Etc. but he knows his medical stuff too. The late Moira McTaggart probably doesn't count 'coz she was never really a superhero, but there she is too. Dr. Curt Connors was a doctor as well as a geneticist before (and for periods of time, after) he became the Lizard.
