Discussion of Buffy and Angel comics, books, and more. Please don't get into spoilery details in the first week of release.
I had a problem with the fact that
Atom could travel to a wireless phone. He even talks about how he rides the electrons through the wire. He don't say nuthin' about ridin' no radio wave photons. Of course, that would apply to fiber optic lines, too. It actually would make a nice story idea, Atom thwarted in his travels by modern phone technology.
Frank,
As far as I know, only Duplicate Boy (same 31st century alibi as Violet) can duplicate powers. Except, you know what else could? An Amazo could do it. Plus, evil, and even referred to in the first issue.
Frank,
I mentioned Roger Ackroyd in my LJ. Atom has been a narrator for a good part of the series, and he's stated that he thought Dr. Light did it. Going from there to Atom as murderer would be playing terribly unfair with the readers.
You know who else
can shrink and is a misogynistic prick? Ultimate Hank Pym. Of course, wrong universe, but...
Well, in the DC universe, there is also
the superman foe Parasite, along with whatever foes Atom may have had in his own series, last published in the 80s, I think...
Didn't
Doctor Light make all those solid light JLA duplicates that the Injustice Gang was using against their heroic inspirations? Theoretically he could make one of the Atom as well
...
DX, I had the same though as you re:
Amazo.
It would explain a lot-- he'd have to be
duplicating villains' MOs and powers as well as heroes, though,
and I don't know if that's possible. And that still means there's someone else pulling the strings.
Yeah Matt, but he didn't duplicate their powers...
Okay, here are my thoughts on things still unresolved in Identity Crisis:
1) Does
Atom have a motive? He has the means, and the opportunity, but does he have a motive?
2) Why the hell is Junior Boomerang so damn fast?
3) How in the hell did
the Flash read Dr. Light's mind?!? Is this a Flash power that I just didn't know about?
4) The JLA
mindwiped BATMAN?!? He's gonna kick their asses. They dead. They so dead.
5) No, really. (See #4.)
6) What was up with the
agent at the Drake house not seeing Batman? Was that for real, did he really not see Batman? Or was it some sort of nod-and-wink type thing, where he knew Batman was there, and allowed it?
7) Ollie made some weird comment to
Flash along the lines of "you guys," and it seemed to refer to speedsters,
and, to tell the truth, I don't remember it verbatim right now, and my comic is at home, but I was struck by how odd it was.
8) So, the
Calculator is involved, but not the mastermind?
Did I read that correctly?
More questions later, undoubtedly.
Steph, I totally agree with your #5.
For #1,
the only motive anyone can see is that he planned it so that Jean would fall in love with him again, which is really, really weak, especially for a pretty smart guy who's been a hero for lo these many years.
For #6, I'm pretty sure it was the latter, because
as far as the GCPD are officially concerned, Batman doesn't exist.
Steph, some answersm as best I can muster. More on this later in LJ, too:
1.) I can think of no motive for Atom. A couple for Jean Loring--who has access to his technology, but even those are specious.
2.) I suspect that's a story for another day. But probably one not TOO far away.
3.) This one I think I've actually got. When Light "exploded" with energy, he actually projected a hologram of his repressed memories. It only flashed for an instant, so the Flash was the only one who could see it.
4.) & 5.) Maybe. I think I'm going to hold off on predicting Bruce's reaction. He's an odd cat, y'know?
6.) Batman doesn't exist. Therefore, the nice government agents don't acknowledge he's there. Period.
7.) The comment was "YOUR guys, meaning the Flash Rogues,of which Boomer was a member.
8.) I can't let the Calculator go yet. I think he's more tied up in this then he's letting on.
Not much help, I'msure. But hopefully some.
Victor puts waaaay too much thought into "Identiy Crisis" here and here.
