"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Maybe they should have dispensed with the costume in favor of street clothes and drawn her like Ann-Margret?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So did anyone read anything this week? UXM is...weird. It's like they're all older, or something. Well, NSM Wolverine.

I'm not sure how I feel about the pace.

Legion/Titans made my head hurt. As for the suspense, yeah, sure, Kon's going to leave Tim who just came back to him. Sure. Not even in Elseworlds.

I don't like reading one War Games at a time. I need momentum to move the through.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Titans/Legion confused the hell out of me, partly b/c I *so* don't get the conundrums of time-travel, and partly b/c I have no idea who all the Legion folks are, and I couldn't bring myself to care.

I did love that Raven said "ass," and I really loved the part where Bart went to see his mom. Made me a little sniffly, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

As for Detective Comics -- War Games is just being dragged out, is what I think. I don't know how all of this will play out, but I really feel like War Games could have easily been done in 2 months rather than 3.

Art Crawl!!!

I found Teen Titans/Legion very confusing too. Possibly because in addition to having not the littlest bit of an idea as to who the Frell the various Legion people are -- I'm not sure who the TT folks are either.

I agree that it was very touching when Bart went to see his mom. . . when they were traveling backwards in time and saw Starfire and Nightwing snogging -- was that the near future, or the past? Or was that taunty tauntiness?

WarGames: It does seem as though things move very slowly. Also, no more Riddler? And why was he calling Ivy - Pam ? Is that her real name ?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Whoa, sumi. I didn't even see Riddler or Ivy. Huh. Where were they?

Did anyone read Y the Last Man ? Holy fuck.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I did. Wow. Though I have to wonder what the deal is. If there's some substance in the ring that confers immunity, you'd think it would take a while for it to work its way out of his system. The monkey seems to have done OK for some time away from it. I'm afraid we may be heading for an explanation that involves real magic.

Also, is the virus/bacteria/whatever supposed to be omnipresent but somehow not harmful to creatures possessing two X chromasomes?

Well, I've definitely presumed it's been an airborne contagion...but you know, is it not harmful to those with two X chromosomes, or is it only harmful to those with a Y chromosome? Any Klinefelter's people alive?

As for the immunity, I checked the panels to make sure, and Yorick starts getting sick the instant he takes his mask off, which pretty much confirms the airborne contagion theory. Now, I've missed a few back issues, but I don't know how the male astronauts who landed fared, and I do remember a male baby being born a few issues back. You'd think the baby would have died as soon as it left the womb. And it's possible it did, a second after "It's a boy!" was announced. Vaughn's got some wiggle room. I'm not sure what the ring's been doing, then, since it also protected the monkey. It could be magic, which wouldn't surprise me too much considering they're on the run from relic hunters. It felt like something supernatural or magic was going to come into play eventually.

What I loved was how it went down: Yorick's first fleeting thought when all the men died was that the ring had protected him. It was a great callback, and so amazingly done in a way that lets the situation dawn on the reader. A chilling scene.

Art Crawl!!!

P-C -- There are two different stories in Detective Comics. The main story is the War Games installment and the secondary story is the Riddler/Ivy story.

One of the things about the TT/Legion special that makes me happy is that after reading it, I feel no inclination to start reading Legion regularly. What a relief.

Okay, yeah, I saw that. I don't read it.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Sumi, Poison Ivy's real name is Pamela Isley.
