"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Rogue should not be able to fly around, pick up a tree, and knock down large juggernaut-sized mutants with it. She doesn't have super-strength in my mind.

Uhm, Rogue had Ms. Marvel's (Carol Danvers, now called Warbird) powers for most of her existence in the real Marvel Universe.

I was gonna say, Rogue's been super strong/flying most of her career.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

In fact, I think I remember the Ms. Marvel bit being in the cartoon at one point, which is how I learned about it.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

IIRCC, she's currently devoid of all her powers, but remains with the X-Men.
She and Gambit both lost their powers for a time, then regained them. I think it was Marvel's way of ironing out the ridiculousness of her powers after she absorbed a Skrull and had even less control of her power manifestations than before. Now she's back to being Rogue like we know her.
Pffft. It was a television microscope. They're extra special. Television microscopes can even be used to determine molecular stuctures.
Exactly. C'mon, P-C, you'll accept the fact that Wolverine's claws, when sheathed, don't make his wrists entirely immobile, but you'll balk at an explanation-expediting piece of science-botchin? You must learn to suspend your disbelief more consistently. I know, I know, it's hitting you professionally.

Hey. New board.

Okay. I accept all of that. It makes sense. It annoys me, though - I like Rogue better without those powers. Hmmph. Maybe if they ever do that story in Ultimate canon, I'll convert.

Wolverine's claws are supposed to retract all the way into his forearms.

eta: That's why he can pop the claws out through his palms when he needs to if his hands are bent back. Mutant healing factor, hurray!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Mutant healing factor, hurray!

Is it terribly wrong that I can hear this only in Dr. Zoidberg's voice?

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Is it terribly wrong that I can hear this only in Dr. Zoidberg's voice?

Well, be comforted by the knowledge that you're no longer alone.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Looks like I'll just be getting Uncanny X-Men and Detective Comics this week. After only three titles last week.

I guess I need to brace myself for the rest of October, it seems.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Just Ultimate Spidey for me this week.

Was wondering why there was no JLU discussion this week, then I watched my tape and went "Oh." I ended up watching the episode even though I'd seen it before, though I confess I fast-forwarded through all of Superman's dreamscape scenes.

Art Crawl!!!

I like Supe's dreamscape scenes.

Did anyone else watch "The Batman"? It had "The Catwoman" in it.
