I am not nice. In addition to the Outsiders issues Pete requested, I threw in the Arsenal mini and a couple more trades (Evolution and Officer Down). Had I had more time, I'd have probably snuck some Young Justice in there as well.
shakes fist at eeeeeeevil Bat-pusher
The Arsenal mini was, indeed, adorable. I really liked Officer Down.
And I suspect I'm about to add Outsiders to our list at the comic store.
shakes fist (again) at Plei, then at Victor
Of course, Jilli is also evil. She passed over the Black Kiss series.
Heh. Pervy smut with a side of vampires. And did I mention smut?
Nate turned into some sort of mutant shaman-type guy. Then Marvel canceled his series and Generation X in the same month, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't been heard from since. Which is a big damn shame, 'coz I kind of liked his character, even if he muddied some already muddy continuity waters just by existing.
Also: Age of Apocalypse is one of the best alternate-universe storylines ever.
I bought Bruce Wayne Fugitive: Volume 3 today (didn't even know there WAS a volume 3, wondered about the bodyguard thing...). I also bought Ultimate X-Men 41, 43-47. Really wishing they had 40 and 42 at Midtown Comics so I could be all caught up in that series, but I guess I'll just skip them. 41 was pretty much a self-encompassing story, so I'll assume that 40 and 42 aren't necessary reads.
I REALLY like Ultimate X-Men.
Ultimate Spider-Man? Not so keen on. I think Peter Parker's character kinda annoys me, at least in the Ultimate series'. Didn't like him in the Ultimate X-Men crossover either. Though Daredevil was cool.
ita: I know that you want to push Batman on your friend. I don't blame you - Batman is pretty hardcore awesome. But to convert him to comics in one step if he's of the "pah, comics can't be literary, they've got PICTURES" mindset... I have to suggest Sandman. Especially since, as an uber-geek, he's probably at least HEARD of Gaiman. Another good conversion book (imo) would be Watchmen, but that could be read by the skeptic and then discarded, if he's stubborn enough. Discarding Sandman is just impossible, it's too good.
Speaking as somebody who was only recently re-converted to comics himself by these books...
I think Watchman is too dense a story, and Morpheus not cool enough. He's not a snob.
I think he's just a late bloomer. He only just read the Lord Of The Rings.
Also, I own but don't have to hand the Sandman stories and Watchmen. So I'm not buying them again. Dark Knight I do not own.
I am selfish too.
Ultimate X Men 40 was the introduction of Angel. 42 was the introduction offscreen of Dazzler, Storm learning to control her powers, Beast leaving, and the escalation of the mutant/human tension in the White House.
41 was the issue that made me say, DAMN, I like this series.
Yeah, 41 was REALLY good. It's the only one of those I've read so far. But it was GOOD.
The Arsenal mini was, indeed, adorable. I really liked Officer Down.
Hee.
I suppose Batman + Arsenal is next on the list to bring you.
I suppose Batman + Arsenal is next on the list to bring you.
Sweet Zombie Jebus, you *are* a pusher, aren't you?
Bah. New comics day, and there's nothing on the list that I want.
Fie upon thee, comic-book makers!
Though I have Batgirl: Year One on its way to me from B&N.com.
I'm only getting Ultimate X-Men. And I think I need to make a proper list of the graphic novesl I want.
Not even Batgirl,Teppy? Not even the next installment of Judd Winick's Batman story?
I may pickup Bruce Wayne: Murderer today because one of the lots of Nightwing I bought on ebay came with one issue of Bruce Wayne: Fugitive . . .
