I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

he's still handling Tim well.

The words are English, yet make no sense.

His handling of Tim has been the worst part of his run.

Wonder Woman #205 - The Joker is on the cover. Wearing WW's bracelets and tiara. Written by Greg Rucka. What more needs to be said?

Hmm. I should get this.

Catwoman #32 - I wish Sean Phillips could continue on the art, but then we wouldn't have Sleeper. This also showed a little bit of a "lighter" side of Bats/Bruce.

Am I the ONLY person who spent the part where Selina wakes up on the couch trying to figure out why she's on the couch and where her clothing went? I mean, there's a perfectly good bed, and the coffee mugs were RIGHT THERE. Sigh.

Jilli claims I'm over thinking that.

Teen Titans: o.0

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Teen Titans: That silhouetted panel was Gar and Raven hugging? Please don't make me have to revisit my opinion on his character.

Art Crawl!!!

Kiba - I'm very excited that you bought Year One -- now you should get Robin Year One and Batgirl Year One.

Hey -- I see (by the ad on the inside front cover of Astonishing #2) that Spiderman the Cartoon is coming out on dvd next week!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Picked up the following yesterday:

Astounishing #2: Liked it a lot, and agree with about everyone here that the Kitty/Emma smackdown kicked ass. Also loved the return of Kitty's wittle-bitty dragon.

Identity Crisis #1: Didn't read it yet, but I'm spoiled so I paged through for some of the bigger moments. Looking forward to this although I will not be able keep up outside of this series. Can I assume that at the end when everyone disperses except the group with the secret, that their attempts to find the killer are going to leak into the characters own titles? My older brother had a huge stack of Batman/Detective comics, (also World's Finest, JLA, Flash, and Metal Men - I don't think he was so big on Green Lantern/Green Arrow, but I may mis-remember - but he was definitely a MUCH bigger DC fan) when I was kid, and seeing some of these folks again (Dr. Fate!) is like having a serious second childhood. Also, since his run of the Detective had Elongated Man as the back-up story most of the time, I'm actually very sad about Sue, since the stability of the Digby's marriage in the face of super-herodom was one of the running gags back then.

Also, Batgirl: Year One. I got about halfway through and am enjoying it immensly. I love they way they took a lot of her 60s origin and re-vamped it. Also liked the throwaway "Batwoman" reference.

One question, semi-related: when Dick and Babs got together, was she still Batgirl, or was it post-Killing Joke?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Frank, it was post-Killing Joke

The words are English, yet make no sense.

I'm with Plei. Willingham may be a competent storyteller elsewhere, but his run on Robin continues to make me want to do him harm. I contrast Willingham's wack-ass characterization with Johns' in Teen Titans, who manages to make Tim light-hearted AND psychotic, which is how he ought to be. (I haven't read #127 yet. I need to work myself up to the pain.)

As for Teen Titans, I am shallow, and giggled over Bart's newest construction, because now Bart and Tim can skateboard together! Especially since Kon has declared Cassie his girlfriend kinda out of the blue. (And I'm only saying this because Kon's slept in Cassie's bathtub and seen her nekkid without them becoming girlfriend and boyfriend, so why the sudden -- ah, forget it. They're cute.)

I also seem to be picking up Flash, now. Wally, the cute mechanic!

ita, about your TT question, my answer is that yes, it was.

As much as I love TT, #12 was a smidge confusing. But how can you not love intestinal worm!Gar? And Conner calling Cassie his girlfriend -- the first thing I thought was "beard!"

I have a question about Astounishing #2 -- what up with the dragon? I don't know any X-Men backstory, so is this a creature that's always been Kitty's sidekick?

My cousin gave me a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble for my BD, which I think I will use to get Batgirl: Year One.

Also:

And Batsfolks, are you not pleased with my Year One purchase?

Of course we are pleased.

Yup. Johns is nailing all of the characters, actually. Good stuff. (Plus, I have the belief that Johns gets the Kon/Tim thing, and deliberately does things like the "Tim, you gotta give me a reason to stay" line.)

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

On, Astounishing, which I've not actually read yet, Steph., Lockheed the dragon is, well, an alien that attached itself to Kitty while they were in space. He's been her pet--although he may see that differently--for years.
