In the first tpb, Silent Running?, I thought she looked all Asian.
In recent Green Arrows, Connor Hawke looks white. Though they still make Tiger Woods jokes about him. Because he's a one-man melting pot.
Cass is half Asian. As Michelle mentioned, her father is David Cain.
(Lian, for those playing along at home, is 1/4 Vietnamese.)
Have we ever known who her mother is?
Nope.
Every once in a great while, I expect them to spring it on us. Have it turn out to be Shiva or something. Because they SO would.
I thought he adopted her?
Have it turn out to be Shiva or something.
I would not be at all surprised if they did that. Because then DC could act as if martial arts skill, like archery skill, is genetic.
Is Shiva old enough to be Cassie's mother?
le sigh
Fanwank of extreme silly: he's just anemic from the veggie lifestyle.
Dear colorists: Connor is not white. Please be reflecting the text now. Thank you!
Speaking of similar names and confusion therein, on amych's recommendation in her LJ, I tried to read Te's fic that was labelled "Connor/Tim." (I know, Superboy is almost always referred to as "Kon," but I didn't know of the existence of this other Connor.) I was so. damn. confused.
Cass and Cassie isn't as bad as Connor and Connor. Didn't the DC writers have a baby-name book?
I thought he adopted her?
It's revealed that he is her Dad in one of the Batgirl issues. Somewhere in the early forties? Maybe?
Is Shiva old enough to be Cassie's mother?
Cass is only in her late teens, and Shiva's in this ageless sort of thirtysomething zone, so yeah.
(Canary would be in that zone, but they can get away with her seeming younger, on account of the whole Pit thing.)
I would not be at all surprised if they did that. Because then DC could act as if martial arts skill, like archery skill, is genetic.
They would. They really, really would.
Cass and Cassie isn't as bad as Connor and Connor. Didn't the DC writers have a baby-name book?
Although to be fair, these are characters governed by different editors in different departments, who don't interact much.
