Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Victor, I'd also love to hear your thoughts on Starman when you get a chance. I'm about 5 trades in to the series and madly in love.

Okey-doke, although I'm for bed in a minute. Short answer is, though, that it may be my favorite superhero title ever. Jack Knight is sooooo cool.

And did you catch his cameo in IC? He's in the front row of the funeral, next to the Stat Spangled Kid.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

two comments

>I think WOnder Woman has an SO, but I'm not sure. Anyway, they're probably all targets now, anyway. :)

Right now, that character has no romantic entanglements.

Stat Spangled Kid.

She has ditched that name, and for the moment is just called Star

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Victor, I think you're making an unnecessary assumption in presuming that the dead person had to be someone's SO. Why not a hero him or herself?

It's also been noted a couple of times that the Dibnys had one of the only lasting stable marriages in the DCU, which makes the relationship as much as the character a loss .

Also, I want it to be Wednesday.

Michelle asked Why not a hero him or herself?

Because It wouldn't have been the same story. Green Arrow called it--heroes dying comes with the game. They expect it. Breaking into their homes and killing their spouses/parents/children et al. is different. The whole point of the story, vis a vis BM, is less about the heroes and more about what they do to protect those around them.

Art Crawl!!!

I enjoyed the story even though I had not the slightest idea who the Dibneys were. And does anyone have a map or something that ids everyone in the funeral scene for those of us who are mostly clueless?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

does anyone have a map

Not that I've seen. If anyone has a good-quality scan to work from (because I just can't seem to remember to bring my comics in to work with me, gorramnit), I'm sure we could whip up our own....

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Having read the whitefont -- but not read IC #1 -- I don't know who the Dibneys are. Will that affect my ability to enjoy/understand it?

Teppy: No. Neither did I, and it still blew me away. It gives you a basic rundown; you'll get the idea.
