Which titles do you read, out of curiousity?
I'm in transition, but basically, I'm reading Identity Crisis, Outsiders, JSA, Green Arrow, Teen Titans, Fables, Promethea, various Hellboy stuff, various X-Men stuff, Swamp Thing and Ultimate Fantastic Four.
I'm also reading Avengers and Justice League, but their stock with me is plummeting.
Lastly, reading the Authority, Planetary and Starman in trades, which is mildly frustrating, as Starman's been FINISHED for three years and there's at least one more graphic novel left. Maybe two.
Also, do you happen to know/recall how long this was in the making/planning? Because it seems like a 'verse-wide leitmotiv coming to a head, and I'm wondering how coordinated that was.
Usually these things are planned at least a year in advance, often more. (Which may explain the minor continuity errors that popped up in IC, like Tim Drake running around as Robin after his father learns his secret, or Capt. Atom being alive (which can be explained away, as it's Capt. Atom, and he's done that before.
I drift in and out of BoP. Don['t know why. Also, been meaning to pick up Flash again.
Of course the other critique I've seen of Identity Crisis you might call the Gail Simone one, which is out there in spades along with the fanboy one.
And I can't say they don't have a point, really. Still, not undercutting my enjoyment of the story, though.
Yeah, I left off the "Things I Read in Trade for to Catch Up" category.
Which is basically Starman, Planetary, JLA, and maybe a couple of others.
I just have to say I'm enjoying the whitefont, cause damn. Like I said, it made me want to buy the fucking issue right then and there, and I never buy issues. This is a trade I might buy new, though.
Yeah, I'm too hooked to wait for the Trades on this. Bad enough waiting for Starman.

In case it wasn't clear, I
have
read it. Just haven't bought it.

Oh, totally, on both counts, though in a case where you're
needing a death like this, I can't think of a male character who'd have been effective. Sort of like killing Tara.
Reading my older titles (my Spider-Woman collection, for example) is often an exercise for my wince muscles. Comics have come a long way in how they portray women.
Yeah. The problem with the IC death is that it had to be someone who knew a LOT of people, and someone who's significant other had a public identity made it a media event in the DC universe. The Atom's ex-wife might have worked, but she's not been around much lately (Sue and Ralph have been active in Starman, Formerly-Known-As-the-Justice-League and others.) Someone like, say, Pa Kent might have done the trick, but most super heroes don't know Supes' identity, so you're left with a Superman story, or at best, a JLA story. Ditto for Tim Drake's dad. I think WOnder Woman has an SO, but I'm not sure. Anyway, they're probably all targets now, anyway. :)
Victor, I'd also love to hear your thoughts on Starman when you get a chance. I'm about 5 trades in to the series and madly in love.
