There were two alternate covers for Astounishing X-Men, and the rarer one was selling for like $50/issue when it was first released. This, as I said to our IT guy, is what is wrong with comics.
Superman Birthright #11 - By this time, I'm just collecting it to keep the run intact.
Buh? Whu? I love Birthright. Clark Kent -- a woobie in all media.
Ah. Wasn't aware of the dual-cover thing.
The cover that the store was selling for $8 is the one with just Wolverine's claws extended.
Which the other store had roughly 10 copies of at regular price.
What does the limited edition cover look like?
(I think that the regular cover looks pretty cool.)
Here is a picture of all three covers from an ebay auction.
I think the cover with the whole team is the rarest but I'm not sure.
So, on my lunch break I ran to the store that is now my favorite. They did not have The Outsiders #10, even though I swore I saw more than one copy yesterday. I ended up buying only the new Batgirl and forgetting to ask about GCPD.
I'm going to wait until Saturday when I can hit the other store that's in an inconvienent location for me and see what they have.
I was thinking on the "This is what's wrong with comics" problem, and - it could be worse... they could be foil covers.

What's that I see on the horizon? Is it 1994, it's time come round at last? Oh, the fear.
Jeff Mejia! I need your mailing address so that you may receive your Class Protector Medal. My profile addy is good.
They had a huge stack of Astonishing X-Men at the Berkeley Comics & Comix (just the regular cover). I had no problem buying it a week after it was out.
Ple, I now possess
Dark Victory
for compare and contrast purposes.

I think his characterization was better in Dark Victory than in Long Halloween, which is probably why I prefer it. Slow a bit the first part, in terms of plotting (I think the Haunted Knight stuff Loeb did is probably his best-balanced, because the shorter form forces him to NOT meander so self-indulgently).
Half-Price Books still had JLA: World Without Grown-Ups -- for $2.50. I love Half-Price Books.
