Polter, I think Kitty was making a dig at Emma for being sort of half naked in that outfit. More of a mistress than a headmistress.

Aha! Good one. Thanks, DX. (Some jokes aren't as obvious without the tone of voice, huh?)
I agree with DX on the Emma thing.
Though Anna Paquin may be very little like the Rogue of the comics, my brain fails to understand that. And Rogue as originally a villain, it also fails to understand. Because I love that movie (and the sequel) far too much, and never really read the comics befor seeing the movie.
Plus, Anna Paquine is such an incredibly awesome young actress, I can't help but fall for her, and all of her characters. If in doubt, see 25th Hour and Buffalo Soldiers. Not to mention her Academy Award-winning performance in The Piano (at thirteen!)
So I'm very stupidly wanting to say "No! Everyone has to like the things about Astonishing that I did!" which I'm aware is nonsensical. But as I've said elsewhere - I have a tendency to resort to "Well, you're stupid," when something to which I'm emotionally drawn comes up for debate.
The reveal at the end somehow didn't register for me, because it felt like something they must have already done a thousand times during the run.
This happened to my boyfriend too. He was like "So? They've been doing that for years."
What is wrong is me picking up more Marvel titles.
Again I say - mwahahahahahahahah. (Sorry, I'm a Marvel girl, with the rare Batman & Vertigo exception.)
Yeah, 'cause that'll just make me go to a Cerebus place, and nobody wants that.
Whee Cerebus! So fun. ...there are too many comics, and not enough time.
However, this is all moot if Gambit gets to her first.
Rogue v. Buffy... I think I know who wins this one.
Actually, I'm trying to see the point of having Beast in the same lineup as Wolverine since their abilities would seem to fill the same niche. Hank is just more polite than Logan.
Truly, I believe that Joss was like "I want my favoritest characters!" and that's why. Because yes, it doesn't seem to make much sense otherwise.
...Looking @ ita's handbook stuff I'm reconsidering the "Is Kitty a [ fighter ]?" debate. I would say that [ since she has a great deal of fighting skills and a low strength, maybe she's good at what she does, but doesn't do a lot of it. ]
Plus, Rogue (who I still envision as Anna Paquin)
I'm so sorry for you.
Why is Kitty's speed so slow? I would figure the ability to walk through walls would give her some advantage in that department.
Plus, dancer.
First of all, Rogue was an adult, not a teenager, when she joined the group. She also had a pronounced southern accent
This seems debatable to me. I mean, she definitely wasn't 14 as Anna Paquin seemed to be, but 18/19 seems doable no? Anna Paquin tried the southern accent, she just didn't succeed. When a Bronzer was doing his own X-Men casting and made Eliza his Rogue I kinda flipped out on him and said she could never be Southern enough, and some people were like "You can't discriminate against an actor because they don't have the right accent or aren't from the right place" and I was like "I sure as hell can. Ain't no way Eliza can play a Southerner."

What DX said.
Kitty's speed is the speed of a normal human -- that's not under debate.
Kitty gained great fighting skills while possessed in the Kitty Pryde & Wolverine miniseries way back when, but no, she's never lived off it the way Wolverine has.
And I still don't see the Beast/Wolvie similarities.
Rogue v. Buffy... I think I know who wins this one.
Hmm, can Rogue bogart slayer powers as well as mutant ones?
Should be able to.
Question is, she has a history of not dealing well with the mental baggage of the powers. I wonder if being slammed with millennium of Slayer memories all at once will feel?
I wonder if being slammed with millennium of Slayer memories all at once will feel?
Do you think she'll have access to what Buffy doesn't?
It's been implied that the Slayer 'powers' affects individuals differently. They all tend to get a basic package of strength, combat intisincts, etc., but the amount of memories/visions seems to vary.
For instance, psycho-girl of Angel seemed to living the memories of the previous slayers far more strongly than Buffy every did, Faith never evinced any of the Slayer memories other than the passive combat ones while Buffy was known to have the rare prophetic dream
DX, I'm with you on Rogue. I like the X-Men movies, but Rogue character in the movies is more like someone with Rogue's powers in a Kitty Pryde/Jubilee relationship w/Logan, then the actual Rogue. Plus, Marie?
Polter, Emma's been known for her skimpy, more underwear-than-outerwear costumes for a long time. Also, she and Kitty have a contentious history. I think she basically kidnapped her at one time, and forced her to join the Hellions, back when Emma wasn't a good guy.
The Legacy virus was almost 10 years ago, wasn't it?
ita, the cure was about 3 years ago. But it was an ongoing storyline for about 10 years. It started at the end of the X-cutioner's Song crossover, I think, and that was the early 90s.
