Most people is pretty quiet right about now. Me, I see a stiff -- one I didn't have to kill myself -- I just get, the urge to, you know, do stuff. Like work out, run around, maybe get some trim if there's a willin' woman about... not that I get flush from corpses or anything. I ain't crazy.

Like I need a hole in my head

Oh dear god. I've just caught up in this thread, and now I'm having to fight the urge to purchase EVERY SINGLE NIGHTWING RELATED COMIC IN THE STORE when I go pick up my Astonishing X-Men after work.

You all are a bunch of pushers, that's it.

Don't fight that urge. He's fun. He's snarky. He's a deliciously complex character. And he's ALLERGIC TO SHIRTS.

(Me? Not a pusher. Not at all.)

Art Crawl!!!

I forgot that there is new Batman today!

I'm not going to the comic shop today -- due to stupid flu-y weakness.

Is Batgirl:Year One the only Batgirl tpb about Barbara Gordon? (I don't have anything against Batgirl Mark II -- I'm just more interested in Babs right now.)

But! I have too many comics already. And it seems like I need to add, like, ten new titles just to keep up with this deliciously shirtless snarky superhero.

Oh it'll start small, sure. Just one issue here, a TPB there. And next thing you know, I've got the entire Batfamily in my box, and I'm hitting the backissues bins twice a week, and trolling eBay for bargains, and getting my crackhits from Milehigh Comics.

I've gone down this path before.

What Amych said.

Yep. There's not a lot of post-Crisis Babs-as-Batgirl stuff (and what there is isn't especially good). There are a couple specials like the Batgirl Girl Frenzy issue, and there's the two-parter Batgirl/Catwoman Oracle/Catwoman.

Dickwiki! I'm going to be saying that ALL. DAMN. DAY. Dickwiki!

Also I forgot to mention that in 2 stores the new comics are arranged alphabetically.

That's whack. I mean, maybe I'm weird, but I think in terms of publisher first, then alphabetically. Or I've possibly had the Marvel vs. DC discussion a few too many times.

My stores don't separate the new stuff. Just the backstock.

Why, is there something wrong with this lifestyle?

Hell no.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Hey, t -- from High Hat contributer Phil Nugent:

The last decent New Orleans comic shop that was standing when I left was More Fun Comics at 8200 Oak Street, across from the Maple Leaf Bar & Grill, phone # (504) 865-1800 8200. They cater to fan boys, and they have an excellent back stock of mainstream titles, but they're also have a pretty solid stock of independent and adult stuff, too.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

The new McSweeney's Quarterly is guest-edited by CHRIS WARE! And it's got comics and commentary/reminiscence about comics in childhood from creators like Ware, Lynda Barry, Daniel Clowes, art spiegelman, Adrian Tomine, Charles Burns and commentators like John Updike and little-known radio host Ira Glass.

Just the Ware cover is worth the price. Oh my Lord, it's lovely.
