So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Somehow, this wound up being a seven comic day.

  • Batgirl #52,
  • Batman #628
  • Batman Harley & Ivy #2 (Of 3)
  • Flash #210
  • Green Lantern #177
  • Astonishing X-Men #1

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Is that the stuff they have on hold for you, or do you actually go to the comic book store before work?

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

Askye, never go in on Tuesday. Because you have to go in Wednesday anyway, and it just makes you spend more money.

And also it makes you look like a big dork who has nothing better to do than go to a comic book store twice a week.

Not that I'd know anything about that. *cough*

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

So, how did Astounishing X-Men turn out? Was it astounishing?

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

After work, I'm at least picking up Batgirl #52, Batman #628, Harley & Ivy #2, Astonishing X-Men #1, and Ultimate X-Men #46. And then I shall, um, probably spend an indecent amount of money on trades.

And also it makes you look like a big dork who has nothing better to do than go to a comic book store twice a week.

I do on occasion hit the store on Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesday's for new-new-gimme-gimme, and Saturday's for crawling around on the floor digging for backissues, or diving into the discount bin.

It takes effort to be this much of a dork.

Stuff I send Paul in to buy on his lunch hour. I didn't have time to set up holds this week, so we're still going on our AtS schedule.

And also it makes you look like a big dork who has nothing better to do than go to a comic book store twice a week.

I hit one comic book store (usually) twice a week, and have weekly visits to two others. I suspect that I've hit my limit on titles I can be expected to follow, so there will be less of me going and hunting for back issues to fill in the gaps than is going on right now.

I may have to seize the cat.

You mean you can go to the comics store and spend less than $10?

Huh. I don't have that much willpower.

Yeah, I can't do it, not really. I think I tried once when I was going to pick up Fray. Ha. Which reminds me that I need to ebay for 7 & 8. ...proof of my inability to spend less than $10 is that though I only needed to spend $6 for 2 copies of Joss's X-Men (friend asked me to grab one for her), and I had cash for that express purpose, I still walked out of there with the first TPB for Y- the Last Man. (That's because a Bronzer draws it.)

...as for Astonishing, I've had it for almost an hour now but not read it yet, because I want to be able to give it my undivided attention.

...so probably not happening today, at all.

ETA:

Remember that thing I said, about not reading it today?

Complete and utter bullshit.

I just read it now - it's so short!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Y'all are scaring me. I've never actually been in a comic store, or not for decades, anyway. I've either been handed things and told to read them or ordered online. But I've got a date with Astonishing X-Men, today, so...

So, should I go to the place that is rumored to have the better selection but is out of my way, or the other place that is near DH's work? Should I accept that I will eventually be haunting both of them?

What city do you live in?
