"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Luke Cage is a way better name than Power Man.

'Cuz his Momma named him Luke. Only MM would name his child Power Man.

What the hell kind of name is Power Man?

We should just be glad it wasn't Black Power Man, given the era.

Heh. In case it's not obvious, Power Man and Iron Fist was Marvel's belated attempt to cash in on two exploitation genres at once: blaxpoitation and Kung Fu movies.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Why do you think everybody got excited by the advent of Frank Miller and Alan Moore?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just spoiled by how good we've got it now.

Even my old Marvel shit's pretty... well, lame. And occasionally funny, in that 1970s way.

What the hell kind of name is Power Man?

It has the virtue of being direct and to the point. Iron Fist is right up there with Mr. Fantastic on the Porniest Super Hero Name List. Sweet Christmas!

So. No Man's Land. Is it Batverse canon? Or AU, like Dark Knight Returns? Cause, Gotham is FUCKED UP, yo. If it's canon, how do they come back from that?

Obviously, don't answer how they come back from it. But I *do* want to know if it's canon or not.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Yes, fucked up, and yes, canon.

Teppy, have you read Batman: Cataclysm? 'Cause in that one, you get to see how Gotham got fucked up, and it's terrifying.

Canon? Niiiiiice.

Just started NML #1. (Thank you Cincinnati Public Library! I have 1-3 and 5. Don't know why someone is keeping #4 from me, but I've requested it. I'm hoping it comes in before I get through #3.)

Talking to a friend over the weekend, he asked me "What are you reading lately?"

Me: "Ummm....Batman comics, mostly. Well, entirely."
Friend: "No *books*?"
Me: "Hey! The stories are no less valid because they're comics!"

I don't think I convinced him.

I also have that one requested from the library. (My library SO rules, yo! Although Plei is making me want to read BoP, and they have none.)

Fortunately, NML #1 has a little explanation at the beginning of why Gotham is suddenly devastated and no longer US territory.

It's seriously canon? That's so fucking COOL.
