To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Almost. Superman was Nightwing and Jimmy Olson was Flamebird.

Ah. Did Batman ever pick up that role, 'cause I've got a clear picture in my head, but no reference.

Maybe I'm thinking of Bippo the Super Monkey.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Gah! I forgot about Flamebird and Nightwing! Nightwing was Superman, IIRC.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Did Batman ever pick up that role, 'cause I've got a clear picture in my head, but no reference.

Well, Nightwing was a homage by Supes to Batman.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Post-Crisis continuity, Nightwing is an ancient Kryptonian hero who Clark tells Dick about when Dick is trying to figure out how to be a hero without being Robin.

One of the more adorable moment in the Nightwing canon is in the Nightwing Annual, when Dick's "stepson" is watching Superman cartoons on TV, and Supes is saying something like "I have to act now, before it's too late!" Dick wakes up shouting "Wait! I'll help you, Superman!" His crush is so canon.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

(current Robin, current Wonder Girl, Superboy, etc)

Is Superboy is different person from Superman, or is this some temporal anomoly cause by a localized tachyon field?

Holli - May 03, 2004 5:38:47 pm PDT #2321 of 10000
an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Superboy is (deep breath, this is a long one) the teenaged clone of Superman, artificially aged in a tube, who actually only has 50% of Superman's DNA because of some silly handwaved comic book science; the other half of his DNA comes from Lex Luthor.

Yes, that's right, Superboy Has Two Daddies. This is *canon,* people.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

He was created, as I recall, during the Death of Superman arc. He only recently found out that the human half of his DNA comes from Luthor, and hasn't, as far as I've read, told Clark.

(You know, there are articles on user behavior I could be memorizing instead of frickin' Superman canon! I worry myself.)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

there are articles on user behavior I could be memorizing

Sure, but leaving aside the whole "making a living" thing, why on earth would you want to do that?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I love when this thread is busy.

I'm going to attempt to hook Jilli. Pete should live in fear.

Sure, but leaving aside the whole "making a living" thing, why on earth would you want to do that?

Exactly!
