So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Although a big part of why I get growly is the combination of his physical type and physical competence with passion, smarts, and snark. I kinda lose it every time he goes into fight mode, stares certain death in the face, and says, "Ooh, hey, I think I can see my apartment from here."

Oh, yes. I mean, he's cocky *and* insecure, and just so very... Dick.

I love him.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's always fascinating for me to see which characters in a fandom take off in popularity. I totally get why Dick Grayson appeals, but there was a time when he could've been something like Scott Summers - the good son, protege, responsible group leader.

Marv Wolfman's treatment of the character on Teen Titans did a lot to establish Nightwing, but Robin has always been different from the average sidekick. He was named after Robin Hood, and always had that extra level of Erroll Flynn joie in battle. Also, the absolute confidence of his acrobatic background and fighting ability. Plus the smartass quipping.

Anyway, that was a fascinating interview with Devin.

Two words: Tim Drake.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Damned Teen Titans (comic, not 'toon). Sucked me right in. Good fucking writing, mang.

I now have issues 1-10.

And Kid Flash is a tool.

You know there's a cartoon version of the comic too. Which is kind of weird, but no weirder than the regular Batman and Batman Adventures running concurrently.

And there's a comic version of the Cartoon Network 'toon. Seriously.

Pardon my transposition, actually that's what I meant. Emmett's been reading it.

Well, your transposition was also correct -- there apparently was a 'toon of the comic, back in the day. (According to chatty!co-worker, who knows his comics.)

Aha! That must be why I hate him.

Happy superheroes put my teeth on edge, and quippy superheroes need to have their underpants set on fire immediately.

Yeah, but Dick's hardly happy. Dick, in fact, is so far from happy, he can't even smell the hamburgers.
