I could say this too, but instead I'll just quote Gandalfe, and it was nearly 20 years for me. But it's just Fray, and 1602, and Sandman, and ... oh crap.
Oooh, that's an interesting idea.
Wasn't one of the tales Drusilla's 1997 trauma in Prague? If the little girl is Giles' grandmother, she must hitch a ride with Mr. Peabody and his Wayback Machine at some point.
Thanks Matt! I had a feeling the wraparound story was taking place near the present day (but not today 'cause "Look Ma! No Council!") but I couldn't remember why I thought that.
Well, looking at the style of dress of the children, I think the wraparound story has no timeline bearing to the included stories...
The clothing is formal, but I didn't think it was particularly dated.
Call it an intuition then.

I thought of this point after posting my original supposition, but I decided to stick with it. Maybe it is that the Tales that we see have no bearing on the framing story. (FWIW, Joss' story illustrated by Cameron Stewart included Lord of the Rings movie references).
The vampire in the Tales framing story made it clear that some of the stories hadn't happened yet. How this is has yet to be revealed.
