You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

The phrase "If that style is causing problems, don't use that style" seems to work for the admins at LJ.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The phrase "If that style is causing problems, don't use that style" seems to work for the admins at LJ.

But we're not using styles in the way LJ does. If a user changes a passel of individual things and it messes them up, what do we tell them to not use? For that reason, if we don't go with a choice of presets, we should have a "delete all customisations" option.

Here are all the styles defined:

  • p, li, td
  • tt
  • h1
  • .biggertext
  • .smallertext
  • .nametext
  • .tagtext
  • .titletext
  • .logintext
  • .plus-sign
  • .specialpost
  • .thread-desc
  • .message-text
  • .section-header
  • .bigger-section
  • .asterisk
  • .username
  • .buffyquote
  • .white-plus-sign
  • .white-asterisk
  • .bigger-bold
  • .normal-text
  • .normal-bold
  • .normal-blood
  • .normal-bold-blood
  • .smallerbold
  • .normal-italic
  • .formtext
  • .postnumboxtext
  • .formtag
  • .formdesc
  • .formpost
  • .editpost
  • .noCSS
  • .errortext
  • .edited-by
  • .spoiler
  • .formmenu
  • .times

How many of them do you think we should offer up for changes, and what attributes will we allow to be changed?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I really really regret not giving more styles names according to their function rather than what the style looks like. Bad coder! Bad!

Now would be as good a time as any. And by now, I don't mean now, it's just that I have this burst of tidying at precisely the same time other people have lives.

Oh, and Amchau? I don't think PostgreSQL is unneeded.

Amchau? I don't think PostgreSQL is unneeded.

Oops, sorry. Moved back to its former position, roughly.

User set style sheets have also been moved out of the "may not be needed" section. I like ita's idea of solving the storage and troubleshooting issues by having a small number of set style sheets. I'm wondering how many of the work-friendly, no-taglines, and for-the-visually-impaired versions of the board which have been requested could be accommodated that way.

Jon and DX wanted something more fine tuned that what I originally suggested, so we do need to hash out which side of the continuum is going to be implemented.

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

Rather than choosing among a set list of style sheets, maybe set up choices as a drop-down list for each element we want to allow control over?

t has massive headace

t suggests Buffistas be offered a menu of 'skins' they can apply to the board

eta: Or, what Am-Chau said ... limited options.

Which is, uncoincidentally, my suggestion also.

What is even happening?

I still can't thread suck. I tried to threadsuck Natter 30 from post #5925 to post #7000, and the page acts like it has done the suck, when it's really just sucky. In other words, I get this:

Natter 30: Piss off, Bitches!

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
