The version in [link] uses Tidy to do the work on display. I didn't see any negative performance hits.
The board is protected from mismatched delimiters, with no automatic repairs made.
Contexted links for raw urls, and "m" for tiny-font are the only functional changes.
(ita, I stripped out all the code I put in that is now being handled by Tidy.)
If Tidy isn't changing the stored post text, but is only changing it on display, then I think we
should
have a little warning message inserted at the bottom of the post. Suggestions?
Jon. I added that just now, as shown here: [link]
m Is that small font thing implemented already?
Ah, clearly not. What is all this Tidy talk, anyhow? I'm so confused.
'm' for microtext is only in the lab, P-C. Tidy is a tool for fixing html. Also only in the lab.
Dammit, Gus, I just got
home
from the lab. Don't make me go back!

You'll go back! You'll go back and *like it,* you will!
ETA: Okay, that came out not so much mock menacing as, well, Yoda.
I added that just now
I don't see nothin'.
I am imagining something witty, yet clear, at the bottom of the post, using the edited-by class.

Format change done [link] , allowing for variances in the definition of 'witty'.
I think that test should be visible only to the poster, though. Otherwise it's kinda embarassing.
