All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

The other admins would have to do that for their archives.

Could the other admins check in and let us know when that is taken care of? (Tommyrot?)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I've done it for the NYistas.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I received this today, and it was news to me. The board admins. may know about this and have dealt with it already, but I thought I should post a heads-up:

Effective November 12, 2004, ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, will put in place its new transfer policy for all accredited domain name service providers. >[link]

If you own a domain name, this is important. In the past, if anyone attempted to transfer a domain name, the current registrar notified the domain owner and waited for approval before transferring the domain to the new registrar. If the domain owner did not respond, the domain transfer was denied.

Under new ICANN rules that take effect tomorrow, if the domain name owner does not respond, the transfer must be approved. This raises the very real possibility that domain "slammers" will be able to hijack your domain. Note that if you respond to the notification email and explicitly deny the transfer, that still prevents the domain from being transferred, but in this age of spam filters it's quite possible that you'll never receive the notification and will lose your domain.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That was a really good idea. ICANN is a bunch of freaking geniuses. So glad they're in charge.

Thanks for the heads up.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Wow, I thought my respect for ICANN couldn't fall any lower. I was wrong.

ObBoardFu: What does Am-Chau's requested-feature list look like now? Looks like ita and Gus have been chewing through it pretty vigourously.

On edit: Inadvertent x-post with B'cacy: Am-Chau's feature list is linked from there.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Actually, I think that means I can transfer b.org to me from jengod, even though I don't think I have her right address.

Visilurking

When are we getting Kat's suggestion (from Feature list):

C'mon people, what are we paying you for?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Sorry, but we're still waiting on the framistator we ordered for that application. They keep telling us it'll be "real soon now."

Karl, if you look at the thread header (by viewing the first page of posts), the request list is linked to from there.

They keep telling us it'll be "real soon now."

Beta testing seems to be taking a while. Which I can't complain about -- it's not something you want to have to recall.
