This is the page Google has cached for us. So, at the moment, we come up reasonably high for things like "cheese man" kafka

cheese man kafka firefly pulls us right up.
It doesn't look like "Buffy spoilers" would pull us up, which is interesting.
To me.
I feel almost guilty, since we have so damned few Firefly spoilers.
Maybe you should call Minear and get some.
Come for the spoilers, stay for the snark.
Sorry Jon, I didn't read clearly -- I was responding to
whoa! how did that happen?
without realizing it was rhetorical.
No worries Jess. I'm not feeling very lucid today. Actually, I wasn't being rhetorical. I understand your point now. I wasn't taking into account the "front page" part. If I understand you, even though there are 2,500 pages with "firefly spoilers", few of those hits are on the front page, and google ranks front pages higher than some page buried within a site? That makes sense.

I've never seen any indication of that. Does anyone have a cite?
I like this, about their ranking:
, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."
But I doubt it applies to us. Yet.
Hmm.
Google's technology analyzes the full content of a page and factors in fonts, subdivisions and the precise location of each word. Google also analyzes the content of neighboring web pages to ensure the results returned are the most relevant to a user's query.
Heh. If you try "due south firefly" we're the #3 hit. However, how many people are going to search for that, I don't know. (They should, of course.)
