That's not what making out sounds like -- unless I'm doing it wrong?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Kristen, thanks for the info, and thanks to Steven for the renewed offer. We'll have plenty to consider before Thursday.

Our wings are not tired.

Well, the more memory makes the server faster and to my way of thinking, a faster server processes queries faster which leaves connections open for a shorter span of time which allows for less overlap of connections used.

That makes sense to me.

Forgive me for not reading all the posts. You all rock for working so hard on all this. Jesse, please put something up in Press if you need to collect some more $$.

I agree that we are getting a great deal of cooperation and help, particularly when compared with other homes we have shared.

Now to see how many refreshes I have to use to read the 300+ posts in Angel now that I have finally seen the episode!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, I'd need two months and the setup fee upfront. So, depending on whether or not you do the year long contract, that's either going to be $500 or $650.

We can do that.

I know I don't understand all the technical ins and outs, but sticking with FG, at least for the time being, sounds like a good plan to me. Before we switch (if we do), I'd love it if we could find some clients of the other hosts that are like us to talk to. I don't want us to be bouncing around from one more or less unsuitable host to another.

Nobody

As long as the extra $150 isn't insurmountable, I (who have neither a technical opinion, nor any technical knowledge) would rather that if we go with IH, we do not go with the option that commits us for the year. I think I would rather we do this:

Also, on the commitment front, with a higher setup fee [$250 as opposed to $100], we can do a month-to-month agreement. I would, however, want to change the TOS to add in a 60-day notice requirement of cancellation.

...provided, if we were unhappy, and needed to leave, we wouldn't be screwing FanGeek & their clients, in the process, somehow.

Kristen? Monique? If we went with 60-day notice, what would happen to you, in the event we had to leave? Would we be leaving you, your sites, and your clients high and dry?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The extra set-up fee and 60 day notice instead of a year commitment relieves a lot of my worries. I'm on board with this if the techies think it good.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I really am very confident we'll be able to afford a year at $2400 without doing anything crazy. Really very confident.

Again, I have to say I agree with this. I don't have the technical know how to even understand how to make a decision, but I don't the money has to be a huge factor in that decision.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Just a clarification on my suggestion of a donate button. I suggested it as more of a convienence to gather funds passively for building a renewal and operating fund after our initial outlay for the upgrade/move/whatever.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

If Tom can have root access, and he's willing to be root-access-having guys, a LOT of my concerns are alleviated.

Kristen - Oct 24, 2003 5:12:06 pm PDT #5759 of 10000

Actually, I don't know for sure if Tom is willing. His name was tossed out and I may have latched on to that prematurely. But, either way, some Buffista who is willing to be that root access having person and has the needed technical knowledge would get access to make changes.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Kristen, Tom did volunteer to do it.
