Huh. 168 requests at 9:58 and no errors...
Thanks ita.
eta: odd. errors almost everytime but refreshing brings the page right up.
And x-post with DX.
Strange -- I just got like, ten clicks of "new" or "next" without any errors, and then errored out like three times in a row. Whatever was happening went away for a little bit, and then was back.
I'm getting the occasional partial error, too - for instance, last time I hit Read New it gave me the entire message center except for the right-hand column (with COMM, etc.) Instead of that column, I got the fatal error message.
I'm getting errors from Message Center, as well, not just from posting.
I've noticed lately when I get the error, that when I try the link again, there's a new post there. I wonder if we're bumping into each other, or something? If that makes no sense, feel free to ignore me - I'm not programming literate.
eta As just happened. 'Suela's post wasn't there when I started this post.
The other thing different is that last time, when somebody tried to post and got an error, the post number incremented anyway, leaving a hole in the database. This time it seems that's not happening.
Sometimes when I get the error when trying to post, it posts anyway. Sometimes it doesn't (like just now when I tried to post this).
There are two pages called when posting. The first is what does the actual posting (it's called something like post.php), the second is the refreshed thread page with your new post. If you get the error while the system is trying to get the first page, it doesn't post. If you get the error on the second, it means it posted, but couldn't refresh the page. You can tell what happened by looking at the URL.
Oddly, I have to report that using both IE, and Opera, I've never lost a post in the last two days, even if I get the error message after hitting "Post message."
All I've had to do is hit F5 (refresh), and the browser automatically resends the form data (Opera), or asks me if I want to resend form data (IE). Either way, the originally typed post has gone through eventually, every time.
