Visilurking

I don't know anything about coding.

How does this hide/unhide affect threadsucking?

Don't hurt me.

t runs away

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

How does this hide/unhide affect threadsucking?

However we want it to.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I say if you threadsuck, nothing gets filtered, and you live with it.

Unless that's more complicated than the other option.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I love you all talking code about this and I want to kiss each and every one of you. And when it gets done, I make you all cookies. I swear.

MWAH!!!

Dana is me.

It was just that the page reloaded with that post showing. Next time through, invisible again.

I think this is how it works at Prospero. I've blocked posters and just wanted to see a single post within a thread. When I go back to that thread, I'm pretty sure it's blocked again.

Also, since I was on vacation, I was wondering if anything was ever decided about the web space offer. Will CVS run on our server? Do I need to set up an account for you guys? Or have your needs already been met?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

bitterbaby, I think we're missing expertise as much as we're missing server space. My CVS install experiment was marginally successful. I want Karl back.

Dude, what did you just call me? *snerk*

And okay. I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't dropped the ball, "That bitterchick. Makes offers and doesn't follow through."

Fruity Pebbles: Also, just an FYI, I had a bitch of a time getting in here. I can access URLs that start [link] but not [link] Which means I couldn't log in at all. I finally got in through anonymizer. I suspect this is related to the new line hostcentric added and probably temporary but I thought I'd throw it out there. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Unless that's more complicated than the other option.

Since that what it does now, I think it's fair to say that it's easier to have nothing get filtered.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

I love you all talking code about this and I want to kiss each and every one of you. And when it gets done, I make you all cookies. I swear.

Will they be persistent cookies? I already have a buffistas.org cookie and it looks like this:

SESS_ID
1454dbacd09019108f7316bc5f6b9eae
www.buffistas.org/
1536
3178377600
30124400
49031280
29539320

Mmm mmm good.

In the blinvisible message, I'd prefer there not be a link, what with the eye-catching and all. At that point, I've already taken the action. Perhaps a link to the putative relevant faq portion elsewhere?

I was worried about people using it and forgetting how they did it, or new people not realizing it hides all the posts from that user. When you first click "Hide" and it reloads the page, it could put a big help link up top. Or we could have a text-colored link

This post rendered blinvisible by MARCIE (What's this?)

and trust people to mouseover it for a link.

The common practice here is to use a simple text editor like Notepad to compose long posts.

Rrr, arr! Get in the habit of hitting Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C and it will help you wherever you submit text on the net. (If your e-mail, feedback, or post gets eaten, you have a copy right on the Windows clipboard.)

I compose in the box, but I copy and paste quotes to "buffistas.txt" in Notepad. Another keyboard shortcut: you can assign a hotkey to a shortcut so "Ctrl-Alt-N" opens Notepad, or "Ctrl-Alt-B" opens your Buffista clip file.
