OK, so when someone's de-activated by an admin, while they're logged into the board, and posting, what happens? What happened when mieskie came up with another username and posted? Did his session stay open?

Do you have problems, concerns or recommendations about the technical side of the Phoenix? Air them here. Compliments also welcome.
You do to FUCKERS!!!!! exactly what I did to FUCKERS!!!!! -- deactivate it.
Deletion risks breaking referential integrity. There are two ways around that -- moving all posts from a deleted user to "DELETED USER" (which I don't like), or not allowing deletion of posters who've actually posted. Which is fine, but who but us admins knows about the deactivated never-posted users?
We could change that particular user name so that it's mocking us from the user list. The User ID is the key, not the name. We've already changed names a couple of times for people who have requested it (Rob and askye, that I remember).
Yes, but a) change it to what and b) that frees the name up for reuse.
Look what happens when some idiot forgets to close an t a tag.
I'm reproducing Laura's post from Bureaucracy because categorizing the threads is on the request list, and this is a good starting point. I think "Literary" belongs under "Specific Natter," though, and "Specific Natter" needs a new name.
We seem to have 31 active threads at the moment. I really don't have a problem with movie and music threads in theory as I just subscribe and unsub as time allows. In the order they appear on the home page this is how I categorize the threads. It is getting a little confusing for me and I have to think it is worse for anyone new. Maybe some kind of organization? (What are the chances the format will be good first try?)

ita, thank you for stripping the taglines out of the Search results. That was a smart way to make it work.
Gonna have to second the request for categorization of threads, if possible (don't want to be all demand-y if it can't be done). I've been registered for awhile, but now that I'm *ahem* between jobs, I'm spending a lot more time here. You're all very entertaining, but sometimes it can take a while to find the threads I'm interested in on the front page.
'Sort threads different' is already on the requests list. In the mean time, may I suggest selective subscription? I'm using that and message center instead of Read New, and posting in the wrong place less often.
I just started trying the subscribing option. I'm still trying to figure out which threads interest me, though. So I've only subscribed to two things.
I'm taking the baby steps approach to the Buffista life.
Easier than jumping in at the deep end. I do wonder if there shouldn't be a line in the 'how to' section which says 'Don't worry if you don't cope with it all at first. It's very big and strange, not to mention shiny, and it can dazzle you to begin with.'
It may already, of course, and I've just forgotten, despite being quite the newbie.
