3) Any chance that threads could be arranged within an outline - that is a NAFTA section, and general section, a spoilers section and so on? Still on the same page of course. And no hurry on any of it. As is, this board swings like a pendulum do!

What's wrong with having most recent at the top?

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Just - generally whei I read Nafta, I like to real all in NAFTA at once. And ditto spoilers.

It could still be arranged by most recent within sections.

But maybe it is just me, or just me and a small minority. I think we have enough threads that those subscribed to a large number of them might see an advantange in this.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Just wanted to say after a day's usage, that this is marvelous. Everything works so beautifully and quickly, and I don't even benefit from double screening, because it loads so fast! Every time I look for a button, there's the link right under my cursor. Every option I really need is already there. I applaud ita and the coders and htmlers, of course, but I also applaud all of the Buffistas, because it was your input that made this so perfect.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'd see an advantage in that I'll often just go through the threads in order, and I'll accidentally click on the spoiler thread before I realise what I'm doing. Once the new season starts up I imagine that'll become a greater issue for some.

...Plus, it appeals to my Virgo mind to have them all neatly labelled and playing happily in their own section. Damn this Aquarian free association!

Billytea, but you can opt not to subscribe to the spoiler threads. If you operate from the message center, you avoid lots of the problem of accidentally reading something you don't intend to read and never subscribed to.

I love it here. Truly.

I'd agree with wanting the main page segregated by type of thread. It helps if I know where the spoiler thread can be and just not look at the fact that there's 100 new posts in an hour there, or something. :)

But seriously, there are some things (BitchFic, PPO) that I"m not subscribed to, so that at work, I can hit "read new" and not worry TOO much about actual porn showing up on my screen. But if I WANT to read these, it would be nice if I could find them easily, rather than scanning the whole main page. Does that make sense?

t edit: also, this "Plus, it appeals to my Virgo mind to have them all neatly labelled and playing happily in their own section.". I'm a Virgo too, what can I say?

True, and I've done that. In any case, I can also just take the time to read the thread names more carefully before clicking on them. LIkewise, of course, if they were rearranged, there's nothing that people do now that they couldn't do afterwards, if they just change the way they approach matters. (If it's 'read new' all the way, for instance, then the layout of the home page becomes largely irrelevant.)

As I understand it, the issue isn't so much whether a bod can get around it, but which arrangement is most amenable to people. I like the idea of having them categorised, at least to the point of NAFDA, Spoilers, and Other; YCMV.

So true that humans are incredibly adaptable creatures. I guess categorization is just not a big deal to me at all one way or another because of the way I read. Most amenable is, of course, entirely personal value driven and entirely subjective. For me, categories aren't amenable in the least.

rambling about this due to reasons not related to what you had to say.

I guess I'm just sad that instead of basking in new board goodness that we're already compiling the list of things we want to make different. Makes me feel sad is all (mainly because it totally upsets me when I spend a lot of time creating something and people give me head pats at the same time they are saying "well I don't like this and fix this." It's happened enough to me that it makes me want to hunt people down, or at least throw my hands up in frustration and say, "fuck you. you do it." - again my issues alone.)
